Even a kindergartner can grasp this concept, #copolitics: You don’t take money from people’s pockets and spend it to tell them how to vote.
Hunters and anglers pay a $1.50 fee/tax on every license. That money is supposed to educate the public about wildlife and conservation, broadly speaking, but the Colorado Wildlife Council has been accused of using it for ads and messaging timed to sway voters on ballot measures about hunting and wildlife: aspentimes.com/news/colorado…
The Council’s own strategic plan talks about building opposition to ballot initiatives that restrict hunting. Meeting notes credit a past ad campaign with helping defeat a 2024 measure intended to end mountain lion hunts. Similar concerns are now raised ahead of the vote on a constitutional right to hunt and fish -- aka #Amendment83.
The director claims the ads are “neutral.” But if public funds are being used in ways that influence election outcomes -- either for or against -- that is exactly what the law is supposed to prevent.
@GovofCO Jared Polis doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt here. He appoints the Parks and Wildlife Commission, which selects the CPW director, who in turn appoints the Council members. The entire incestuous chain runs through his administration. And his efforts to stack the Commission with people hostile to hunting have been too blatant for him to claim this is all happening out of his control.
Public money from license fees is not a campaign war chest. Education is fine; electioneering is not. That's not too difficult to grasp -- even for Polis hires and appointees.
The politicization of these apolitical institutions, the corruption of these institutions, begins at the top, with the Governor. He still has time to mop up the huge mess he's made here, if he's so inclined, through dismissals, disciplinary actions, or resignations. Leaving the mess behind, as he makes for the exits early next year, will further taint an already-tarnished legacy.
Do the right thing, Jared, and clean up the mess you made.

Phil Weiser’s Cover-Up Problem
Colorado’s top law enforcement officer has a lot of questions he won’t answer.
📸 The hush money: Phil Weiser’s office negotiated and approved more than $4 million in taxpayer-funded nondisclosure agreements from 2019 to 2022. He has refused to explain who was silenced, or why.
📸 The hidden memo: Weiser’s own lawyers had the Masias memo, which detailed alleged judicial misconduct, and it stayed hidden from the State Auditor for at least 18 months. Weiser won’t say what he knew or when.
📸 The whistleblower: According to a sworn court filing, when Colorado’s former judicial discipline director kept digging, Weiser’s assistant attorneys general threatened him with criminal charges and a search warrant to get his records back. Those records still haven’t been returned.
And the same pattern continues:
🔻 When the whistleblower filed ethics complaints against Weiser’s staff, Weiser’s office paid for and oversaw the outside lawyer hired to review them.
🔻 The complaints were dismissed.
🔻 Now, the filing says, Weiser’s office wants the whistleblower’s own discipline case handled in secret.
The Attorney General is supposed to expose corruption, not manage it.
General Weiser, who did those NDAs silence? What did you know about the memo? Why is your office investigating the whistleblower instead of the misconduct?

Let's expose what you're really doing with "reconciliation."
You announced it yesterday, eleven months after the House passed the SAVE America Act. You're not trying to pass this bill. You're trying to kill it in a way you can blame on process.
Here's how we know:
Reconciliation requires the Senate parliamentarian to rule that provisions are "budgetary." Citizenship verification is not budgetary. Photo ID mandates are not budgetary. The parliamentarian will gut the bill. Then you'll shrug and say "we tried." We see through you.
Meanwhile, you WON'T use the tools that actually work:
Rule XIX limits each senator to two speeches per legislative day. Keep the Senate in continuous session, file cloture daily, and the filibuster exhausts in ~12-20 days. You dismissed it as "complicated." Because if you tried and succeeded, you'd have to actually pass the bill.
Harry Reid nuked the filibuster in 2013 when he wanted results.
Mitch McConnell changed Senate rules THREE times and canceled the August recess.
Chuck Schumer used reconciliation within months on a 50-50 Senate.
You have 53 seats. You've changed nothing, canceled nothing, and waited eleven months.
Now let's talk donors:
• Goldman Sachs: $150K to you - top H-1B user
• Google: $75K - lobbies against E-Verify
• Meta: $72.5K - Zuckerberg's FWD[.]us pushes mass immigration

You called grassroots anger a "paid influencer ecosystem." YOU are the paid influencer. You take the wrong side of a 80% issue because you are indistinguishable from a K Street mouthpiece, and an ineffective one to boot who won't bend the rules to get anything passed.
What we want:
1. Force a real talking filibuster.
2. Stop hiding behind process.
3. Pass the SAVE America Act.
YOU will become the reason that we will have our butts kicked in midterms. Not Candace Owens, not Nick Fuentes, not anyone else. You and you alone, and all because you want to make the 200 or so viewers of Punchbowl Fly Out Days happy. You're living in a K Street information bubble, addicted to the comforts and praises of lobbyists masquerading as journalists. You mistake the steak and martini dinners you get invited to as your own constituents.
You are not "moderate." The SAVE America Act has 98% support among Republicans. Name one other thing that has 98% support. You are an extreme minority who prides himself on being a calm leader, when in reality you are well in the running for the most ineffective Majority leader of all time.
Prove me wrong. Do the bare modicum of effort. Not symbolic. Actual effort. Cancel the recess. Get SAVE America Act passed.
