I strongly condemn the horrific abduction and sexual assault of two foreign women in Lahore. Violence against women whether Pakistani or foreign is an attack on our humanity and the rule of law.
While the swift rescue is appreciated, justice can not end with arrests. A system where conviction rates remain alarmingly low demands urgent reforms in investigation, prosecution, forensic capacity, and survivor protection.
As Chairperson, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women, I call for a transparent, speedy trial and exemplary punishment under the law. Every survivor deserves dignity, justice, and equal protection without discrimination or influence.
As Political & women rights activist, I reaffirm our commitment to advocating for stronger implementation of laws protecting women and girls across Pakistan.

moved a call attention notice and raised a question regarding the issue of girls’ education being overlooked and the problem of out-of-school children in the KP Urban Policy draft. The Chairperson, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women (KPCSW),Dr @SumeraShams has successfully concluded participation in the Pakistan–Indonesia Exposure and Learning Visit on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) held from 19–24 January 2026, with support from UN Women.
Representing the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Chairperson joined a high-level Pakistani delegation including the Federal Secretary Human Rights Pakistan, Chairperson NCSW, Chairperson BCSW, and civil society representatives.
The delegation engaged with Indonesian government institutions, police leadership, national women and human rights commissions, and civil society actors. Discussions focused on community-based peacebuilding, gender-responsive policing, women’s leadership in peace and security, and localized implementation of the WPS agenda.
The Chairperson highlighted that while Pakistan has strong legal and policy frameworks for women’s rights, effective governance and implementation, especially in conflict-affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, remain key challenges. She reaffirmed KPCSW’s commitment to adapting relevant Indonesian best practices to strengthen provincial institutions and women’s participation in peace and security decision-making.
Appreciation was extended to UN Women Pakistan and UN Women Indonesia for facilitating impactful South–South cooperation. The visit is expected to inform action-oriented reforms and strengthen institutional practices for women’s empowerment, peace, and justice in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

دسمبر 2014 کا دن پاکستان کی تاریخ کا ایک ایسا المناک باب ہے جب معصوم بچوں کی ہنسی خاموش ہو گئی اور بے پناہ درد ہر گھر میں چھا گیا۔ بطور چیئرپرسن KPCSW، میں ان ماؤں کے غم کو لفظوں میں بیان نہیں کر سکتی جنہوں نے اپنے پیارے بچوں کو کھو دیا۔ اللہ تعالیٰ ان کے دلوں کو صبر عطا کرے اور شہداء کو جنت الفردوس میں اعلیٰ مقام عطا فرمائے۔ ہم کبھی بھی ان معصوم جانوں کی قربانی کو نہیں بھولیں گے۔
