Rousing final #Botany2023 afternoon talk by @naomibot on rare plants threatened by energy projects (solar, Li mining): there's hope, we have tools, and we can have both biodiversity and renewable energy development #Teambuckwheat

Great and inspiring talk by @naomibot about threats of lithium mining (the new gold rush) and solar development to rare plants. We don’t have to sacrifice biodiversity to decarbonize! #Botany2023

Speaking of nquire, @JLandisBotany shows some errors with known Glycine polyploids and the limitations of estimating genome size with GBS data Always great to check out what’s possible in groups that can leverage the resources of crop relatives! #botany2023

Interesting comparison of plasticity in Arabidopsis across relict and colonizing populations by Maya Shamsid-Deen. They don't differ in plasticity, but do seem to on a trait to treatment level! Overcoming the fence could lead to negative selection on those traits. #Botany2023

More complex than meets the naked eye, Rosemary Glos tells us about the function and diversity of Mentzelia trichomes. Plus a great example of all the information herbarium specimens hold! No consistent patterns across hypotheses yet, but cant wait to hear more! #Botany2023
