Human sacrifice went out of style some years ago, to the disappointment of some.
Yes - but we need more than a wealth tax: we need a strategy to (humanely) eliminate the billionaire class via a truly progressive taxation system The existence of this class, whose income is more than they can ever spend on their own needs, is the cause of poverty for millions.

Dude says that space research and exploration needs to be free from ROI, then immediately posts that NASA needs better ROI.
Replying to @charlesboyer
Yes, we HAVE to get the cost per launch down so that we can actually take full advantage of the system. We do this primarily by increasing the flight rate

Probably the best option at this point for Texas.

"I'm glad "Nationalize Starlink" is gaining acceptance." Yes, it's very popular with the fascists.
I'm glad "Nationalize Starlink" is gaining acceptance. Without NASA, these technologies would not exist, yet one naturalized U.S. citizen has become a trillionaire off a half-century of federal investments and now deploys that same tech against America's interests.

"OMG, I can't believe I'm, reading another post which totally misses the point being made."

Maybe, but they are necessary to run a successful business.
You know whatโ€™s insane? Limited sick days a year

"Let me exaggerate the issue to the biggest extent possible to try and win the point."
oh god oh no I canโ€™t fire my employee when he gets cancer and has to do chemo oh no how will I survive

"Your children are not yours to own or control." No, they are ours to raise according to our best abilities. A level of control is required. If the state decides that our "best abilities" are legally insufficient, they are free to take over (and pay all the bills).
First off, you're strawmanning my argument, second off, my argument still holds. Because that's still their choice. You can support your children's choices regardless of the consequences. If they're adults, their choices are theirs. Your children are not yours to own or control.

There is no parental distinguishing between good and bad choices, it seems.
You can't claim to love your children if you won't respect their choices, should they choose to make them. Or maybe I'm being too strict with that definition. But regardless of if you love your kids or not, you clearly don't respect them.

OK. New policy, here, folks. If the poster parroting unsubstantiated paranoid claims is immature enough to use a cartoonish drawing as their picture, its a block.
Some people genuinely think a conversion camp will have "CONVERSION CAMP" written in big letters on the front of their facilities instead of some bs like this

Intellectually dishonest reasoning below.
If you dont remove him from office you are just as guilty as him

"Iโ€™m a trans woman who was sent to a conversion therapist weekly for 2 years, so I know exactly how this will be used." No, you don't. You have a singular experience, and you cannot rationally use that to make any sort of credible assumption.
Iโ€™m a trans woman who was sent to a conversion therapist weekly for 2 years, so I know exactly how this will be used. Any children who genuinely regret transition will probably detransition through normal routes (offered by normal trans clinics). The children who are sent (1/3)

Can't help but notice that the Ukraineophiles never mention how **fucking stupid** a country has to be to have its military command and control dependent on a private service they don't control.
SpaceX needs to be blacklisted from US government contracts and deemed a supply chain risk by the next administration. They can finish their NASA contracts but DoD cuts them off day 1 and hopefully Vulcan has put up enough Kupiers for a seamless switch over.

Saying for the gazillionth time: When Congress loses focus on what's best for Main Street & instead focuses on punishing corporations or people they don't like (or classes of people, like "billionaires" or "the rich") Main Street is what suffers from that lack of focus.
If we want Elon Musk to change his behavior, we need to hit him where it hurts: his pocketbook. Congress must scrutinize the billions in federal contracts, tax credits, and other benefits heโ€™s secured from the Trump administration.

Good to remember that it wasn't too long ago that a player (who was playing more games than they do today, barring injury - rest days are a recent development) who struck out 100 times in a season was viewed as a liability.
Jeter to Murphy... โ€œThe Brewers play baseball the right wayโ€ โ€ฆ. - Pat Murphy replies โ€ฆ โ€œGuys today donโ€™t understand that!โ€ We have gotten so far away from center as to what winning baseball is and looks likeโ€ฆ the younger generationโ€™s focus is on launch angle, spin rates, velocity and you only win by out slugging the opponent! Basicallyโ€ฆ. Hit more HR than the other teamโ€ฆ. Then pimp the HR. Well eyes have been opened. They have to be. Itโ€™s now a matter of โ€ฆ if pride will keep the other orgs from following. If they doโ€ฆ our game will skyrocket like never before. It was literally the most beautiful baseball I have seen at the MLB level โ€ฆ electric! @MLBNetwork @MLB @MLBONFOX @nextlevelbb

The opposite of the people who wish to impose something other than capitalism on us by force.
No, that is absolutely untrue, but guess who benefits from people thinking it's true?

Yes, because competitive balance is still a problem. (It's not an opinion; it's a math equation.)
The Brewers went 11-2 in the postseason and their two losses were by one run each, one of the most dominant World Series runs weโ€™ve ever seen, and the owners are going to shut the sport down in a month to pretend like โ€œcompetitive balanceโ€ is a problem in baseball

"If the CEO of KFC stopped working tomorrow, the company would still make money." For a time. But eventually, the lack of leadership would cause dysfunction at every level. Entropy.
If the CEO of KFC stopped working tomorrow, the company would still make money. If the cooks stopped working tomorrow, KFC wouldn't make a dime. You can't tell me the people doing the actual work don't deserve a living wage.

Yet another one who assumes "detransition" means "forced detransition."
I donโ€™t wanna hear anymore โ€œtrans people donโ€™t need to transitionโ€ from cis ppl. Yall are getting real transphobic and pushing anti trans talking points pretty heavy the last few days. This is going to kill people.

This is entirely laughable, considering virtually every society for which we have records discusses poverty as a problem. Never let these people get close to political power.
300,000 years in which we've had societies with no poverty, yet here we are in capitalism with most people in poverty. It is not a pinnacle of progress. It is a captured state by a parasite class.
