Indeed colonial surveyors already knew Lake Naivasha levels rise and fall and they marked the contour for a reason. Titles came later anyway under the Kenyatta and Moi governments.
In #MyFathersLand, we followed families in Kihoto who inherited that land, got the titles, had building plans approved, paid rates and taxes and had built homes. Now the lake is reclaiming it, including even ancestral graves.

East Africa's most notorious slaver, Tippu Tip hated being told he looked more African than Arab. He believed Africans were sub human and he duly overcompensated.
An 1887 report in The Times described him as contemptuous of Black Africans and said he referred to white men as his “European brothers.”
Tip was actually a product of the Arab slave trade, as he a mixed Arab person in Zanzibar. Both his paternal and maternal grandmother's were enslaved African women from the interior who had been used as sex slaves.
He was born in Zanzibar as Hamad ibn Muhammad. Some say he earned the nickname Tippu Tip, because that’s how the guns that he used sounded, while others
believe it’s because of the prominent, involuntary nervous twitch in his eyes.
While he was born at the peak of the the East African slave trade run by Omani Arabs, he took slave raiding and trading to a whole new level. He led caravans all the way to what is now DRC because by the 1860s, the Tanzanian coast was already depleted of people to enslave.
One of his methods would be to burn down entire villages then kidnap women and children and use the captives to make the men lose the will to fight.
He was a crafty man. When the European colonialist came, he adapted. In 1887, through Henry Morton Stanley, Tippu Tip became governor of the Stanley Falls district in King Leopold II’s Congo Free State. A major slave trader was given an official position in a colonial administration that claimed to oppose slavery.
So when the British abolished slavery in their territories, he went on to supply King Leopold of Belgium with 'labour' for his mines and plantations.
Tip knew the interior if Africa so well, He apparently helped European explorers like David Livingstone and Henry Morton Stanley to map out the interior of Africa. This was consequential during the Scramble for Africa, because then they had a map of Africa to use during the divison

CRACKING DOWN ON GOONISM: NYANZA REGION SECURITY TEAM STEPS UP FIGHT AGAINST VIOLENCE
Security agencies in Nyanza have intensified the crackdown on goonism, with 56 suspects arrested and charged in Homa Bay as authorities move to curb violence, intimidation and criminal activities threatening public safety and democratic processes.
Speaking to the media at his office, Nyanza Regional Criminal Investigations Officer (RCIO) Mr. George Mutonya, CP, warned individuals involved in lawlessness that they would face the law irrespective of who they are in the society. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nyanza Regional Multi-Agency Intelligence Committee, led by the Regional Commissioner, to deal with politicians suspected of hiring goons, underscoring the importance of accountability and the rule of law.
According to Homa Bay Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO) Mr. Peter Maina, SSP, recent arrests including that of gang leader Abdi Sebo is a testament of the region's resolve in dealing with goonism. The suspects have been charged with offences related to goonism, marking a significant step in ongoing efforts to address criminal activities in the region.
Alongside enforcement operations, the agencies have intensified public sensitization campaigns to educate communities on the dangers of goonism and encourage residents to reject violence, intimidation and criminal activities.
Security agencies maintain that public cooperation, intelligence-led investigations and sustained law enforcement efforts are essential to protecting lives and property and preserving peace across the Region.
Authorities have called on members of the public to support the ongoing efforts by reporting suspected criminal activity through the Directorate of Criminal Investigations' (DCI) toll-free hotline 0800 722 203 or via WhatsApp on 0709 570 000. Reports can be made anonymously.

There is no way the NCA can approve the construction of any building in Nairobi without the approval of the County Government.
NCA registration cannot be completed without the PPA2 form from the County.
It is the approvals issued by the County Government that guide the NCA.
