We questioned what was actually aboard EOS-05. Then we took those questions to ISRO through RTI.
Our original article flagged that the widely repeated instrument specifications belonged to the lost EOS-03 / GISAT-1. Had the payload changed? We explicitly raised added thermal capability as one possibility.
ISRO’s reply now confirms: EOS-05 carries a six-band long-wave infrared imager that EOS-03 did not have with 1,180 m resolution and a 378 km swath.
This establishes an important difference between the two spacecraft: EOS-05 has thermal imaging capability that extends observation beyond daylight.
It also corrects our earlier article’s statement that EOS-05 had no thermal band.
Beyond that confirmation, our RTI obtained detailed payload specifications, swath widths, propellant mass, design life and power figures. Some questions remain unanswered.
From the uncertainties we flagged to the answers ISRO provided read our full breakdown and the RTI reply:

If they didn't get any support when starting off, why is there any expectation that they'll look to prioritise you after they do the hard yards and become capable?

ISRO's GSLV-F19/NVS-03 launch tonight is absolutely critical!
As of now, only NVS-01 is truly operational + has 10yrs of life ahead.. The 2 old IRNSS satellites are at end-of-life...
For NaVIC to come alive, we need NVS-04, 05, 06 also in orbit! + backup satellites
In mid-2025, I wrote in detail about 🇮🇳 Regional Navigational Satellite system (NAVIC), a strategic capability, being near-defunct. Later, Govt admitted in Parliament that NAVIC is not operational
Given NVS-02 failure, tonight's ISRO launch is crucial

1 Trillion steps. 4 hours. One GPU.
We simulated 264 years of continuous, 120 Hz 6-DOF flight in a single 4-hour run. That’s 75.4M steps/sec - or 7.3 days of high-fidelity flight every second (15,000× faster than CPU simulators).
For context: π0.5 was trained on 10,000 hours of data.
Bringing foundation-model throughput to aerospace-grade robotics simulation.

The point was rhetorical. Many like me have been asking goi to fund more sats at a faster pace & launchers too. That urgency would also result in discussion missions that the RLV would execute.
Replying to @sriramthg
Needs to both right. While the number of satellite launching companies are coming up with their rockets there should be more satellite making companies to facilitate these low cost launching companies ideally. I guess the bottleneck comes down to electronics and MEMS mfg.

Relatively low upfront investment costs with greater ROI promised and as soon as you sign the deal, critical imported LRUs being held from deliveries citing supply chain issues
Ring any bells?
