"This is compounded by JNIM’s prioritisation of its operations in Mali, where it has carried out unprecedentedly large-scale attacks in recent months and mobilised significant resources, as well as the effects of the rainy season, which makes motorised movements and large-scale deployments more difficult, according to Hasret Kargin. "
My latest assessment.

Few notes regarding the attempt to frame the recent developments between Chad, Niger, Libya, and Algeria as if they unfolded over a very short period:
Haftar forces have not just been deploying military units to the country's southern border region with Chad and Niger for a mere week or a month. The military deployments in this area actually date back to early 2025. A joint force was also established here by Chadian and (Eastern) Libyan forces to better control the border. This force even conducted operations against rebels deep inside Niger.
On the diplomatic front, talks between Eastern Libya and Niger had already begun prior to the Algerian contacts. The Nigerien Prime Minister's visit to Eastern Libya following the Algerian delegation's visit can also provide insight into these contacts. Furthermore, the Algerian Foreign Minister's visit to Chad underscores the necessity of a complex approach in the region.
