The music industry is built by freelancers.
The Musicians' Census shows 72% of musicians are self-employed, highlighting the challenges creatives face.
At Help Musicians and Music Minds Matter, we're working to ensure musicians thrive in a challenging industry.
Today we've published the Cultural Freelancers Study conducted by @Uni_of_Essex
The aim of this study was for us to develop a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by freelancers across artforms we support

"I was talking to David Attenborough about the importance of music. He said there’s quite a lot of evidence which points to the fact that man could sing before he could speak. That’s how primary this is."

The workers are back and damaging this site of nature conservation interest at Yew Tree Farm and ancient hedgerow without an ecologist present. Come on down to the farm it’s a public footpath. This site has no planning permission and it’s protected

I’m devastated for the cast and orchestra of @E_N_O. It’s insulting that their move to Manchester is being spun as something to be excited about, when so many talented and dedicated singers and players will have to choose between losing their jobs or relocating their lives. 😢 – at East Midlands, England

The live music industry should be fecking ashamed of themselves. @MolesBath permanently closed with immediate effect after generating artists worth £billions to the industry. And the vast majority of the industry didn't lift a finger to try and stop it

If one seemingly made-up sex scandal about a BBC news reporter is enough for Tories and their shills to decry the BBC…
Surely the 7+ genuine sex scandals concerning Tory MPs is enough to bin-off the Tory party altogether?

c.80% of artists write songs.
Songwriters get c.80% of stream ‘$ong’ value via Publishers & PRO’s.
Artists get c.20% of stream ‘Record’ value, if recouped.
Hence, rise in stream song share, beyond c15%, would benefit the majority of Music creators & send Music’$.... home.

One week of AWH in the world! Thank you for listening, sharing, saving, buying, messaging. It means so much when it’s so easy to fall in and out of love with something when you’re in the process of creating it 💫🫶
