Ohio’s gubernatorial race has surfaced a question that DC Report’s Terry Schwadron argues runs through every 2026 election: has winning become more important than basic human decency? Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy spent $4 million airing a campaign ad featuring the estranged mother of his opponent, Dr. Amy Acton, who is leading in the race. The mother denounces her own daughter as a liar. What emerged in the aftermath is the backstory: Acton was sexually abused by her stepfather at age 12, abandoned by her mother who sided with the abuser, and has been estranged from her for 50 years. The stepfather went to prison. Ohio’s outgoing Republican Governor Mike DeWine called the ad “deeply troubling” and asked Ramaswamy to pull it. On a bipartisan basis, the political world has called it desperate and reprehensible. Trump strongly defended it and called critics “weak.” Ramaswamy is doubling down. You can't make this shit up. “GOP Gov candidate, Zach Lahn, cast an Iowa ballot in the 2024 general election. But voting records show he requested that his ballot be mailed to him in Kansas.” @RobSandIA is going to smoke this guy on election day. nytimes.com/2026/10/25/us/po…

It should be far bigger news that Trump is openly using Nazi rhetoric at his rallies, and that his party is therefore—under his leadership—a Nazi party. It means anyone who votes Republican is voting for a Nazi party. If you've watched his rallies, you know this is fact.

Trump's DOJ told a judge how to rule. Then it pulled her from court. Karen Donoso Stevens' allegations, which she's sharing publicly because of her deep concern for the court's integrity, were corroborated by her extensive contemporaneous notes as well as colleagues, family and private attorneys interviewed by WaPo. They contradict Trump officials' insistence that — as required by law — immigration judges serve as independent arbiters of justice. washingtonpost.com/nation/20…

Final GOP pre midterm push: -“gay people are bad” -“all Muslims are terrorists” -“we want data centers” -“abused children are liars”
Trump on data centers: "I say let them come in ... you should really be cool on data centers because you can make a fortune with the data centers" (Note the total silence of the crowd during this rant!)

You knew he was going to say this eventually. "Oil and gas companies are making hundreds of billions of dollars of your hard-earned money" is a great closing message for Republicans.
Trump: "While oil prices are temporarily high ... the United States oil and gas business is making hundreds of billions of dollars"

This is the essence of MAGA, unfortunately. They unite behind a man of horrible character, who commits adultery and theft of the public treasury like most people breathe. But at least he was born in the right country with the right skin, right?
Trump: "Libya, Yemen, Haiti, Somalia -- remember what I called them? Shit house countries."

This Forbes investigation is a must-read. Donald Trump pulled in roughly $1.4 billion from crypto in 2025, plus more than $200 million from real estate, and faced a projected tax bill north of $500 million. So his company donated the "development rights" to his Jupiter, Florida golf course to a land trust, argued the course was a natural habitat worth protecting, and kept right on running the club. Forbes estimates the write-off could land around $825 million. He has done this at least five times since 2005. New York's attorney general alleged two of those appraisals were inflated. In Doral, he claimed a deduction of up to $323 million, more than double what he paid for the entire resort. A month after the Jupiter deal, he sued the IRS. The settlement his own Justice Department signed bars claims against him over matters that "could be pending," language that appears broad enough to cover this year's taxes. A federal judge found the case was brought to manipulate the judicial process. And the man now running the IRS, who took the job as this deal was being assembled, has a home backing onto those same Jupiter fairways. This is absolutely ridiculous. Nobody should be able to use the presidency to write his own tax bill. forbes.com/sites/danalexande…

NEW: Blanche claims DOJ's Alaska lawsuit doesn't seek to block certification of the state's election results. The complaint says it does. His attempt to reframe the lawsuit is part of a dangerous effort to subvert the midterms. democracydocket.com/news-ale…

AIPAC is now spending as much as $9 million against Abdul El-Sayed. AIPAC is why we’re at war in Iran. AIPAC is why the U.S. has supported genocide in Gaza. We must say NO to AIPAC. YES to electing Abdul as Michigan’s next U.S. Senator.

Glad to see CNN reporting on this. @Acosta and I raised concerns about DHS potentially using a military-grade “heat ray.” After 20+ years in national security, I find this deeply troubling. A weapon designed to inflict intense pain. Against civilians? Why does DHS need this? cnn.com/2026/10/21/politics/…

This is just strange. Trump stops and begins to wave. The camera man zooms out to reveal there is nobody in the direction he is waving, as his aides come from a different direction. Who does he think he sees?

By siding with Russia against Ukraine, trump has just demonstrated to THE ENTIRE WORLD that America is no longer a trustworthy partner. A portion of our citizens elected an unhinged, traitorous lunatic, HALF of our elected officials (MAGA Republicans) act like they're powerless to stop him. This makes us LESS safe. Remember in November.

Humiliating and dangerous: Trump has now finally just made America an ally of the Kremlin and is aiding Putin in his war against an American friend and partner. Shameful betrayal of a US friend, and pathetic submission to a US enemy. theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1…
