A staggering number of David’s Psalms circle a single, relentless demand: that God annihilate the wicked, and do it quickly. The man who prayed them would not have survived the answer. He asks God to break their teeth, drag them into the nets they hid for others, and strike with terrifying speed. When heaven moves too slowly, he presses again: Why do the wicked prosper? How long, O Lord? At the time, David’s moral geometry was simple. He was a fugitive hiding in caves while King Saul hunted him with the machinery of an empire. In Adullam, the lines were clean. David was the righteous victim; his enemies were the oppressors; his prayers were the desperate cries of a man begging God to level an impossible playing field. Then David got the throne. And the geometry collapsed. From the palace balcony, he becomes the very archetype he had spent years cursing. He spots Bathsheba. He takes her. When she becomes pregnant, he writes a murder contract, forcing her husband, Uriah, to carry his own death sentence to the front lines. Uriah dies. David takes the widow. Then came nearly a year in which Scripture records no confession, no repentance, and no confrontation. David lived under the comfortable presumption of sovereign immunity. He had become the powerful man who crushes the weak and assumed heaven didn’t notice. When Nathan enters the throne room, he tells a story: a rich landowner with vast herds steals and slaughters a poor neighbor’s single, cherished pet lamb. David’s prosecutorial instinct detonates. He flies into a rage and passes sentence: The man deserves to die, and must restore the lamb fourfold because he showed no pity. Nathan looks at him and delivers the four words that should haunt anyone in love with their own moral outrage: “You are the man.” David had laid his own trap. He declared a death sentence on himself, and the fourfold restitution he demanded became the currency of his family’s destruction. Four of his sons died untimely deaths. The sword never left his house. The pit David dug was the pit he fell into. The great theological irony of David’s life though is that if God had answered David’s earlier prayers at the speed he demanded, David would have been dead before Bathsheba’s child drew its first breath. If heaven operated on the hair-trigger timeline of human indignation, judgment would have struck the palace the moment Uriah fell. David would never have made it to Nathan. No space to confront his depravity, no season to mourn, and no life left to utter, “I have sinned against the Lord,” no breath left to write Psalm 51. The very slowness of God that David spent years complaining about was the only reason he survived his own reign. The cry of “How long, O Lord?” is not foreign to Scripture. The martyrs beneath the altar in Revelation raise it too. What Scripture never grants us is a stopwatch on everyone’s guilt except our own. We are recklessly impatient in our prayers for justice. When wronged, we demand cosmic vindication yesterday. We treat God’s hesitation as indifference, or worse, incompetence. We forget that if God answered our prayers for judgment with the speed we demand for others, none of us would survive our hypocrisy. The standard we want applied to our enemies would incinerate us when our private failures catch up with our public righteousness. The delay of God is mercy with a long horizon: the terrifying, tender patience of a God who refuses to execute the wicked on our schedule because He intends to leave room for repentance on His. Before you ask heaven to move fast against the evil in front of you, make sure you can survive the speed of your own theology.

Lemme tell you… Richard Allen Davis, who broke into a 12-year-old’s house during a slumber party, kidnapped Polly Klaas at knifepoint, raped her, and strangled her. Isauro Aguirre, who spent months torturing 8-year-old Gabriel Fernandez, beating him, shooting him with a BB gun, forcing him to eat cat feces, and locking him in a cabinet before ultimately beating him to death. Alejandro Avila, who snatched 5-year-old Samantha Runnion off the street, raped her, and murdered her. Cary Stayner, the Yosemite handyman who murdered three women and a teenage girl in 1999, including beheading one of his victims. Charles Ng, convicted of killing 11 people, including men, women, and two infants, alongside Leonard Lake in the 1980s. Lonnie Franklin Jr., the “Grim Sleeper,” convicted of murdering multiple women in Los Angeles over several decades. Investigators believe the actual body count is higher. Scott Peterson, who murdered his pregnant wife, Laci Peterson, and their unborn son in 2002, dumping her body in the San Francisco Bay. Wayne Adam Ford, the truck driver who strangled and dismembered at least four women before showing up at a sheriff’s station with a severed breast in his pocket. Joseph Naso, the “Alphabet Killer,” convicted of murdering four women with matching initials between 1977 and 1994. Christopher Cheary, convicted of raping, torturing, and murdering his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter, Sophia Acosta. And these are just some of the inmates. Newsom called this a “righteous action.” Righteous for whom? Because I guarantee you the victims’ families don’t see it that way.

The most needful thing you can do right now? Not fret. Not roast someone on social media. Not despair. Read your Bible. Drink your coffee. Watch the sun rise. Pray. God is good and does good (119:68). The world is crazy as it always is. But there is gold in your Bible.

Well the White Supremacists and Woke Right are celebrating today. The actual fascists are thrilled. They’ve been pushing for this for years. Nick Fuentes and the groypers didn’t vote for Trump in 2024. They declared a war on Trump, on conservatives years ago. If you don’t know this, you might be on the “left.” Joel Webbon and the other Woke Right fake-Pastors are celebrating. They’ve been trying to push the “MAGA is dead” crap for over a year now, and view this as a victory. Webbon is grave-dancing today and shilling tickets to his anti-Christ conference. He’s making appeals to “those finally ready to listen.” Do you wonder why the actual fascists and Woke Right leaders pushed for this? Told their audiences not to vote or to vote straight Democrat again. Do you know why they’re so happy? I do. Webbon and his ilk sometimes admit they are not conservatives. They’re the mirror image of the Woke Left. Authoritarian, Race-Marxists. They want a government tyranny just as much as the Woke Left does. Their only difference is who they want to wear the ring. They do different identity-stacks. That’s it. They’re thrilled today because they know there are a whole bunch of people waking up demoralized who are one step closer to radicalizing. Their business is dampening souls, killing hope, growing dark resentment and a desire to extract vengeance. You know all that nonsense the leftists say about conservatives and Trump? All that stuff only the bottom-barrel idiots believe about Kings and fascism and Nazis and dictators? The Woke Right wants all that crap to actually happen. They want us to vote in someone who is actually like the fake boogeyman the left pretends Trump to be. They want to strong man. They vote for Democrats every time, or tell their followers to at least stay home, because they want things to get SO BAD under leftist neo-communism, that more people move over to their neo-fascism. They want us begging for our own oppression.
