Thank you to readers everywhere; my family & friends; everyone at Atria Books who believed in me; all the indie booksellers who hosted events; and the people who lived this story & trusted me to tell it. This little underdog book has done it. We are a New York Times bestseller.

As a high school senior in the fall of 1990, I will always remember Todd Benzinger for his celebration after he caught the last out of the 1990 WS. I know exactly where I was, who I hugged him when it happened, and what it meant in that moment. RIP, Todd.

Two great teams are in the World Series and one of them is going to win it for the first time. High drama. I’m in. But it’ll be interesting to see who watches. Here’s the last 10 years of WS ratings w/ the low-water marks being COVID & another small-market series: Rangers-DBacks.

The Orioles, Pirates, and Mariners caught a stray last night near the end of Game 4 in LA. Ouch.

Fair to say, I knew this answer in the NYT crossword. 🤣🏀📚

I love my cat, but today she is making it very hard to work. 🐈‍⬛📚🐈‍⬛ #amwriting

The uniform game in this Padres-Brewers series is strong.

Time to get rid of indoor baseball. 🙄⚾️

Europe should charge the U.S. a tariff for sending them this NFL game.

What a time to be alive.

Some people (me) imitate it every day.

Welp. I guess I’ve finally made it. My high school has invited me back for an event... I promise I’ll be more interesting than I was 35 years ago. And @JosephBethCincy will be on hand selling copies of CHARLIE HUSTLE and HEARTLAND. stxavier.org/keithobrien

What’s happened to Cal Raleigh this season will be the subject of SABR studies for years to come. Last year, these numbers read: .247–60–125–.948.
