suspected DPRK Binance Hack details 👇
ok safe to say binance is pwned
The biggest assets were approximately:
• 1.615B USDT
• 62.6M RLUSD
• 29,934 wBETH
• 11,372 XAUt
• 6.19M UNI
• 198.4M ENA
• 7.175T PEPE
• 27.8M USD1
• 2.26M LINK
• 127,853 AAVE
about $2.5B at the explorer’s prices.
1. The attacker deployed a delegate contract, 0x63e842b0...73e9c6fAe, from the relayer at 15:59 UTC.
2. About four hours later, the relayer submitted an EIP-7702 authorization transaction
That installed the malicious 7702 delegate code on Binance 14.
3. The relayer then made a call to Binance 14, executing the delegate code, and transferring Binance 14’s ETH and token balances.
4. The calldata is labeled sweep(address, address[]). The second argument is a list of recognizable token-contract addresses plus the zero-address (eth).
5. The same relayer later used the same delegate to move 780M USDC from Binance Hot Wallet 34 into the same pool
• The relayer 0x7C... was funded by three Tornado Cash 0.1 ETH withdrawals over the prior two days.
• The same pool also received 28,005.6 ETH from Binance 16 24 seconds after the main sweep.
• The pool then forwarded 195,460 ETH to a fresh, unlabeled EOA
• That EOA has only one transaction and currently holds the 195,460 ETH.
What's a bit unclear is why the relayer was needed in the first place. If they had the private keys to the Binance wallets, they could have just sent the assets out in an atomic bundle without needing a relayer at all.
So it seems likely that they didn't have the private keys and instead just had the 7702 auth signatures, which must have been phished somehow.
I think we can go ahead and assume DPRK.
Imagine the irony if technological advances (ai) were to render digital currency too risky and everyone moved to physical gold...
I rewatched Lord of the Rings recently, and I was reminded what an epic undertaking of live action and CGI cinematic storytelling those films were.
The tools are changing rapidly, but the core of great storytelling is The Story, which is inseparable from the human experience, always has been.
Tolkien knew this, as did C.S. Lewis, and many great authors and artists besides. We are a storied people, all of us.
Tools amplify our humanity, for good or evil. Don’t be evil.
Amidst the hyper acceleration we are experiencing, I am finding increased value in creating fully analog moments in which I slow down.
Reading a physical book while drinking coffee.
Baking bread.
Going for a walk without my phone.
Our minds are incredibly capable when given time to process and synthesize information. Being terminally online (an apt term) is a dead end, destructive to one’s humanity and creativity. There are huge benefits to participating in the bleeding edge of technology, but only if you are able to stay above the fray and see the forest for the trees. Perspective is everything. I wish you well. gm.
Musings and observations of @jackbutcher's financialization artwork...
The die was cast the day 7,160 ppl sent $8 to Jack via XMoney. Now the foundation of the ecosystem is coming into focus: credits, statements, $balance, and now the exchange.
Pay Attention here.
Nestled at the bottom of the exchange dashboard are RULES and a PATH. This is a dynamic system.
We've all seen glimpses of what can be build around a single token. Where will this participatory artwork / ecosystem go from here? TBD, imo.
Observing.
Imagine thinking that it’s a good idea to flippantly give up your individual agency as a human.
Tools are great, I use them, but thoughtfully.
SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.
The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.
Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.
Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.

I mAde a StaTemEnT?.
will I keep it as art?

@jackbutcher is watching this entire saga play out, and everyone is involved on some level, whether as speculator, collector, or audience.
The uniswap auction to seed the LP is live.
Credits are up 48% on the day, sitting at 7x mint.
The information required to calculate the cost per rating unit and find arb ops is out there...
Have fun, anon.
