I recently retired, and I'm running an experiment right here in public: can a regular retired guy earn a few bucks a month on X, honestly, with no gimmicks?
Who I am: Christian. Conservative. Tech and AI geek with a home lab full of GPUs. Florida Gator through and through. Opinionated and not shy about it.
The plan: post things worth reading every day. Honest takes, real AI and tech tests from my lab, faith, and Gators football. Every Monday I'll share the real numbers: followers, views, and dollars earned, even when it's $0.
Day 0: 2,126 followers. $0 earned.
If you want to watch a retiree figure this out in real time, and maybe pick up a few ideas of your own, follow along. Tips welcome.
Breakfast, hymns, Bible study, then up on a 96-year-old man's roof.
Helene was more than two years ago and most of the country moved on. The Amish didn't. They're spending months fixing homes in Western North Carolina for free, and since they don't drive, regular folks like Matt are volunteering to haul them to job sites.
Meanwhile half the internet is out filming pranks on delivery guys for clicks. Pick which America you want to be part of.

I just got back from spending the morning with the Amish…
These people are incredible.
They invited me to have breakfast with them, we sang hymns, had Bible study and then went to work.
I drove them to a 96-year-old man’s home whose roof was falling apart.
The Amish arrived Monday and they will finish his roof TODAY!!!!
Their truck was pretty much on empty so I just filled it up for them, it was the least I could do for them.
We could still use drivers, so if you’re able, just let me know.
The media keeps writing MAGA's obituary and the arenas keep filling up. Daytona Beach tonight, packed to the rafters.
Polls are guesses. A crowd is people who got in their cars and showed up.

Retired geek confession: I've got an RTX 5090 (32GB), a 5080 (16GB), and a 5060 (16GB) sitting in my home lab, and this weekend I'm putting them to work.
The plan is to run the same local AI models on all three cards and report back in plain English. How fast is each one, what actually fits in memory, and is the expensive card worth it for a regular person who wants private AI at home that Big Tech can't read?
What should I test first? Give me a model, a question, or a task and I'll run the best ones.
Canceled Thursday. Back on for Sunday.
Kansas AND Iowa back-to-back, plus 20 tele-rallies. That's on top of 25 rallies in October already.
Meanwhile the media's big question this week was whether he's healthy. 80 years old and still outworking guys half his age.
Midterms are Tuesday. Show up.

Elon says the delayed Grok 4.8 is going to focus on real-world usefulness instead of chasing benchmark scores. Good.
I'm a retired tech guy and I use Grok Bot every day for research and drafting. I could not care less what a model scores on a leaderboard. I care whether it gets the job done without me babysitting it.
Grok Bot is reportedly past 600,000 daily users, about six times what it had two months ago. That's regular people voting with their time.
What's the one practical thing you want Grok 4.8 to do better?
A prankster fakes an Apple Pay charge on a Red Baron delivery guy who's stocking freezers, already an hour late getting home to his four kids, and expects him to laugh. He didn't. Good for him.
Then regular Americans sent him more than $480,000, and Red Baron publicly said he's still on the team and has a fan club, "including us." The guy filming strangers for clicks? His account got shut down.
That's this country at its best. "Prank" content is mostly harassment with a ring light. Respect people doing an honest day's work, and leave them alone.
1/ Elon Musk on one dad's first week with Grok Bot: "It's great."
Peter St Onge got tickets to a 70-band punk show and had his bot build a YouTube playlist of the top songs for his kids. "It took me 30 seconds."
5 weekend jobs like that 🧵
5/ Why it works: the bot does the boring middle (searching, copying, sorting). You keep the fun part.
Reality check: to build it in your own YouTube account, your bot needs access to it. Otherwise, ask for a list of links. Calendar adds need Google Calendar or Outlook connected.
1/ Brian Roemmele says a big client is putting Grok Bot on every employee, with each command run through a "Red Light / Yellow Light / Green Light" filter.
You don't need one. The small version is a real service: bot setup for local businesses 🧵
6/ Why it works: owners don't want "AI." They want an hour back and nothing embarrassing sent.
A solo photographer running 17 bots: "nothing gets sent, posted, bought or deleted without my OK."
Reality check: his filter is his own tech, and no income is guaranteed.
