The TME @AACR meeting is focusing on how the systemic macroenvironment affects the local microenvironment to regulate cancer. A great start with an exciting Keynote by Ashani Weeraratna on the connection between aging, fibroblasts, and immune cells.

Happy to share our final paper of 2024. This one in Cell Reports was led by @laura_hueser who wanted to know if exosomes from aged fibroblasts could impact melanoma. She is a meticulous scientist and took on a challenging project. This will be the paper I hold up to other… 1/2
Researchers alongside Dr. Ashani Weeraratna (@AshaniTW) report that aged fibroblast-derived extracellular vesicles play an important role in promoting a tumor-permissive microenvironment in #melanoma. #OpenAccess

Here in Acta Neuropathologica, @KevinZhangMD+ describes ASXL1 inactivation and reduced H3K27me3 in CNS tumors via a retrospective patient cohort
These findings can be used to potentially validate personalized therapeutic approaches similar to myeloid malignancies

Our opinion piece is out today, "The origin of novel traits in cancer"! Do the phenotypes come first and only later are they locked in by genetic or epigenetic changes? Insights from evolutionary biology are super useful for understanding cancer! cell.com/trends/cancer/abstr… #S_Frank

Published today! We found that cancer cells adapting to drug treatments don't simply switch from a sensitive to resistant state; instead there's a ‘resistance continuum’ of resistant phenotypes with epigenetically reprogrammed states. 🧵⬇️

CSF with an “epithelioid” malignancy. Although, the first differential would be a metastatic adenocarcinoma (lung or breast), the findings here are consistent with metastasis from the patient’s known “melanoma”. (cytospin)
