Women are calling out Mercy Masika for organising a “Becoming a Wife Masterclass,” arguing that she should have focused on femicide, gender-based violence, financial independence, and other pressing issues. Fair enough. These issues matter. But why aren’t the same women organising masterclasses, forums, campaigns, and initiatives on the very issues they insist Mercy should have addressed? Why must her platform become their preferred platform? Why must her calling become their calling? If femicide is your concern, organise a forum. If financial independence is your priority, teach financial literacy. If gender-based violence concerns you, mobilise resources and support survivors. You cannot spend your time criticising someone for doing something you consider unimportant while doing absolutely nothing about the things you consider important. Not every initiative must address every social problem to justify its existence. A woman can teach about marriage without claiming marriage is the ultimate measure of a woman’s worth. These issues are not mutually exclusive. And now that the event is reportedly fully booked and ready to proceed, what exactly are the critics hoping to achieve? Cancel an event because it doesn’t align with their personal priorities? You don’t have to agree with Mercy. You don’t have to attend her masterclass. You’re free to organise your own event that addresses the issues you consider more urgent. Wacheni ujinga!

Every time I live through yet another Brazilian election I can’t but marvel at an electoral system that can count 120 million votes in a single evening. Take a bow, Brazil

Shukrani sana kwa majirani wakenya! 🇰🇪 My experience since I had to flee home has been that Kenyans are special - and the reason we will be safe is because of the People of Kenya - please never change your spirit! Mnapenda sana Haki na mko tayari kumpambania mtu hata kama hamumjui! One day I hope I can pay this forward even if I can never repay everyone for their help, hospitality! The day I write my biography it will make more sense! For now we FIGHT ON! Aluta continua!

Si construyes 1 millón de viviendas. Pero la Clase trabajadora no las puede pagar, y las compra el Blackstone de turno para ponérmelas de alquiler. No estás solucionando el problema, estás ayudando al rentismo.

Kenya tell me if I’m wrong. What I see after years on/off in 🇰🇪 is that colonizers left 62 years ago & since then the Kenyan elite has been oppressing the country pretending to liberate Kenyans. Is that true? I met many of the elite, directly or indirectly mois, waiyakis, kenyattas, aukots and other elites at capital clubs and institutions in Nairobi. All government agencies only function with bribes, Kenyas’ corruption index has been falling freely last years under ruto especially. He himself is long standing career politician & worked closely with uhuru. Both combined are responsible for billions of US$ in debt. Kenyans pay off ~70% of all loans are used to pay back loans now? Both are responsible for thousands of extrajudicial killings & abductions, ruto was second in command under uhuru, correct? So their game of blames looks like they fool you all. They’re both killers. One just looks more gentle now bc he’s retired. My point is the elite in Kenya I met all collude, none of them ever go to jail or for long. When I met them or police (been to dci hq at amin’s office many times), they all are interested in serving themselves & to protect power. Police/dci wouldn’t complain about bribes (showed them evidence) but how ruto needs to be protected. I literally met only one police officer out of hundreds I spoke to personally who seems to have a spine. He’s smart & never got promoted in 20y bc he’s not corrupt. He told me 10% of all police can be hired to kill (later he lowered it) & ~80% are corrupt. Kenyans usually tell me 99%. Either way the police is arguably an institution built by colonizers to protect them then, and maintained by Kenyan elite to enrich themselves without being held accountable. So the rutos and uhurus will never face justice for any killings as long as the elite rules. I can tell you a millions stories of rich Kenyans (elites) living abroad kissing ruto’s a$$ to get credits. They know the system & to get anything done they need his approval. Like a king. Do you all want that? If so, keep it as is. The elite btw almost all send their children to study and/or live in US and Europe. And they try to dress like UK royalty. Go to dci hq and see them in their arguably nice suits sitting on broken chairs without printers or toilet paper. They’re all wannabe US Americans and Europeans, they despise the “poor lower class” Kenyans. I don’t. That’s why I’m writing this. I care about all, justice & equality. Check out also how they use racial profiling to align. Claiming “we against them” is the most powerful unifier. A shared enemy or shared goal aligns people. So they use the “we’re all Africans oppressed by rich white people” when they can rally you all up for votes and support. In New York at UN they’re trying to blend in, use your taxpayer money lavishly in VIP sections while claiming “we’re poor & marginalized Africans” on stage. And they’re right that most Africans live poorly, marginalized & oppressed. And surely the west has something to do with it. They shouldn’t feed the monstrous leaders of Kenya. Yet they do to get minerals & their puppets. But don’t blame the west after 62 years. It’s 2026. Tell me if I’m on to something or not. And the elites in many countries oppress yes, and I’m not defending the US or EU. In Kenya is a different cruelty level though. Claiming to liberate while actively oppressing is so evil. Talk to your elite, see how they always blame anyone else. True leaders take accountability. After 4 or 14+ years (ruto’s total) or 62 years (of independence). Time to wake up and not play the race games and unite. Unite behind candidates who care, unite against corruption & for justice. You will all win then. And not getting paid a few bob to vote the elite in power because of short term survival mode. Because you understand 62 years of oppression is enough. I also am against oligarch’s oppression in west. But I got conned and harmed in Kenya lately, so I will get justice there & help.

The truth that most people here would hate to admit is that Babu Owino shouldn’t be anywhere close to leadership in the Kenya we envision under a Sifuna presidency. He represents all the ills we’re fighting. Kenyans airing out their reservations now tells you that they’ve just been tolerating him. Proximity to Sifuna is what has been giving Patel some sort of cosmetic legitimacy.

Something puzzling is going on in the Kenyan Economy…. Why aren’t the project returns showing up in the real economy and at the dinner table? 1. Despite big projects, housing, and infrastructure, it’s not showing up in the real economy 2. GDP at 4.6% is the lowest we have seen in 5 years. - per KNBS job creation is anemic, from 816k in 2022 to 822k in 2025, that’s less than 1% growth - manufacturing to GDP has reduced from 7.7% in 2022 to 7.1% in 2025. 3. Disposal incomes for average salaried workers down 6%. Meanwhile taxes are up & debt is up, arguably to fund development. In short, the big projects are not showing up in real economic aggregate numbers. So, whats going on? The plausible explanation is that the return on the projects is lower than the cost? It’s puzzling.

‼️ Jim Ratcliffe: 🔹 Backed Brexit 🔹 Moved his tax residence to Monaco 🔹 Abandoned plans to build the British 🇬🇧 Grenadier in Wales and moved production to France 🔹 Now lectures Britain from Denmark about why the country is on the slide And who does he blame? Immigrants and people on benefits. The billionaires who helped hollow Britain out always point down, never at Brexit, tax flight, chronic underinvestment or their own decisions. *Toughness* seems to mean somebody poorer paying the price.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe says he has lost confidence in the UK, describing the country as "on the slide". "Nobody's tough enough to deal with the immigration problem. Nobody's tough enough to deal with the benefits problem. But somebody needs to do it." [BBC]
