Big, esp. for local TV newsrooms that have traditionally relied on non-competes to keep top talent. A win for talent, and more important than ever for news leaders to make their newsrooms a place good people want to work.

This is consistent with what we see working directly with local news outlets. I don’t think folks realize what a tough year it’s been for local news - and it’s communities that lose when reliable news sources shrink.
"The news sector has lost more jobs this year through November than it did in all of 2022 or 2021. Media, of which news is considered a subset, has experienced 20,342 cuts, the highest year-to-date figure since 2020." @Poynter poynter.org/commentary/2023/…

📣 Attention all new business owners! 💼🚀 It's natural to feel the urge to offer discounts when launching a new product or service. It might feel like the fastest way to attract customers and make sales. However, this strategy can lead to a challenging predicament that can be difficult to rebound from. 🚫🏷️ When you constantly discount your products or services, you inadvertently send the message that they may not be worth the full price. This, in turn, lowers your brand value and makes it challenging to charge full price in the future. 💰💸 Think about it: Would you consider buying a product at full price if you know it will be on sale next week? Probably not. And neither will your customers. 🧐 So, how can you avoid falling into the discount trap? 1. Focus on building value 🏗️. Communicate the benefits and value of your product or service, not just the price. 2. Improve your sales skills 💪. Practice makes perfect. The more you refine your sales techniques, the more confident you'll become in selling your product or service at full price. 3. Stand behind your pricing 💼. Have confidence in your pricing. If you're providing a quality product or service, it's worth every penny. And what about friends and family? Should they get a "special" discount? While it's wonderful to have the support of friends and family, remember that your business is your livelihood. They should want to support you by paying full price, just like any other customer. This isn't about charity; it's about valuing your hard work and the quality you offer. 🙌 Running a business isn't a sprint; it's a marathon. And the journey to success starts with valuing your offerings appropriately. So, stay strong, trust your worth, and keep striving for greatness. Your business deserves it. YOU deserve it. 💎🎯 #NoDiscounts #ValueYourBusiness #Entrepreneurship #BusinessTips #NewBusinessOwners

You don’t start and run companies just for an exit. We do it because we are crazy people willing things into very existence. We are supposed to be the next generation of explorers, risktakers, adrenaline junkies. Addicts to the feeling of being so damn unemployable your only option is owner. The inability to sleep because of visions so big they pull you from bed in the dead of the night. Dreams so futuristic people laugh when you tell them. Those are the builders I admire. It’s f*cking hard. But we do the work.

YouTube announcing they are going heavy on Ai… They are building AI tools to help creators come up with ideas, plan them out and even edit them. That leaves a question. In 5 years, will this be the workflow: 1. YouTube AI suggests idea & script 2. Creator films the video 3. YouTube edits the video 4. YouTube releases the video Do you think that’s the future of content creation?

Forever product strategy: 1. Build an initial product 2. See how customers go out of their way to use your product in wildly unexpected ways 3. Build solutions to let other customers do these new things in much simpler ways 4. Repeat 2 and 3 forever

CHIEF PRODUCT OFFICER HIRING Over the past few years, I've seen several top private tech companies part with their Head of Product / CPO in less than a year. The symptoms are many, but the root cause is the inability for the product-centric CEO to treat the CPO as someone more than a roadmap executor, while the CPO desired to be more strategic. Post CPO exit, in some cases, the CEO has taken on the CPO responsibilities and eliminated the role; in other cases, the Head of Eng consolidated design and product under them to form a unified EPD team. Note that the importance of the PM role is not in question at any of these companies; it's the (need for the) role of the CPO / Head of Product. Underscores that the CPO role is one of the hardest ones to successfully hire for. CEOs: Your unique role as CEO is not to assess if these candidates can successfully build products, but rather to determine if they can successfully build products with YOU. CPO candidates: Probe deeply for why the CEO wants a CPO. Is it to delegate tactical work? Or is to truly be a thought partner?

YouTube is the most powerful platform ever invented. I uploaded this video almost 2 years ago and every single month it pays me $500-$1000. Here are my 3 steps to make evergreen videos: Step 1 - Choose a timeless topic If my goal is to make an evergreen video, I want to avoid time-specific content (E.g news, current trends) and think deeply about ''timeless topics''. What is something my audience cares about now, in 3 months and in 3 years? For example if your channel is about growing on YouTube. Here's two examples: Time-specific idea: Use The New Shorts Update To Grow Your Channel (January 2023 update) Timeless idea: How To Grow A YouTube Channel from Scratch (Full Guide) This is a simplified example, but paints a clear picture. A timeless topic is not tied down by a specific event or time period. And this applies to so many niches... People will still want to get six-pack abs in 3 years time, people might not care as much about the current workout fad. People will still want to learn how to invest and make money in 3 years time, but they might not care about the current hot crypto everyone is talking about. Step 2 - Avoid context-dependent material This step is overlooked all too often. Be very mindful about using language or other material which dates a piece of content. This can be as simple as avoiding talking about dates or time in your videos. E.g don't say ''Here's how to invest in 2020'' in your intro. This can go deeper too, try to avoid referencing specific cultural trends or events that may soon become dated. Your viewers of the future may not have the context of viewers now. Don't forget that. Step 3 - Hit a future-proof quality standard This one will be shorter, but think about this... If you want to make an evergreen video, your video not only has to be above the current quality standard of the competition now, but also in 1, 2 or even 3 years time. Try to future-proof your videos. MrBeast's videos from 2020 are still better than most content uploaded in 2023. --- Goes without saying but this is generalised, and not true of all evergreen videos... It's also worth considering that not every video needs to be (or should be) an evergreen video. That said, I hope this was helpful and made you think! If it did, like this tweet and I'll do more. I'll also pick someone who likes and give them all this video's ad revenue for the week! 💸

My theory on why breakfast meetups are superior - they’re a force multiplier to your day. You get up, get coffee, talk to some people and then you’re energized for the rest of your day Other events can interrupt the flow of your day or distract you - a breakfast meet up initiates your day and focuses you
When you're a new founder, you're going to get a LOT of invitations to dinners, meetups, conferences, events, etc. Say no to most of them. Here's why...
