I finished Valor Mortis in under 20 hours, and here is my review.
Massive thanks to kind people at @oml_games for the review key.
🥇The game's setting is unique. To explore the battlefield ravaged by Napoleon's army and the various monsters was truly a special experience. There is a tragedy at every corner and you can feel the air suffocating you.
🥇Valor Mortis nails the combat. The parry system is risky yet rewarding. Once you get the knack for it, you will never go back to dodging. The game gives you several visual clues to learn the patterns of the enemies.
🥇The characters and voice acting are on point. From William to the Shrike, everyone plays their part wonderfully. I had no complaints there whatsoever.
🥈The skills in the game can be reset at any time. So, if you don't like the current build then just respec and try something else. I like that the developers don't bind you to a single playstyle throughout the game.
🥈Most of the bosses in Valor Mortis are very fun and just the right level of challenging. Since it's a first-person soulslike game, I had my doubts about the difficulty, but I'm happy to say that One More Level has handled it well. However, a couple of bosses are poorly designed and not that fun to fight against.
🥈The story is nicely fleshed out and it's rather engaging. After finishing a chapter, I was genuinely looking forward to learning more about the world and the characters.
🥈There are three weapons, three sidearms, and three mutations in the game. The diversity is not much, but I didn't get an itch to have more choices. But some people may have a problem with the limitations.
🥉The game has some bugs, but during my run, I only once encountered something that made me angry. Most of them were just visual glitches.
🏆 Overall Rating: 8.25/10
Valor Mortis does almost everything so well that it's hard not to recommend it. My only gripe is that not everyone will be able to adjust to the first-person perspective in a soulslike. There's no need to be worried about the glitches as the developers are constantly working on new patches.
Thank you for reading. Consider dropping me a follow if you enjoyed the review. :)
I played the Slam Tank demo and here are my impressions:
🔸The combat is fluid and high-octane. The sheer thrill of playing as a tank and taking on different machines was so amazing
🔸The enemy variety is solid and during my playthrough I never felt bored. I even had the opportunity to fight a TRAIN
🔸Perfect dodge is so satisfying, especially when you're fighting a huge train
🔸You can execute so many types of combos. On the ground, in the air; it doesn't matter
Throughout my playthrough, I had so much fun and it genuinely made me excited for the full release. I want to see what Next Stage can do with it.
I highly recommend trying the demo.

A new photo from God of War: Laufey is making the rounds.
I won't lie, Faye looks gorgeous here. Also, I hope this finally shuts people up and they stop calling her ugly.

Day 113
850K copies sold BEFORE launch is insane.
We really might have another Black Myth Wukong on our hands.
Phantom Blade Zero has now sold 850K pre-launch copies, with 73.8% on Steam and 26.2% on PS5. (@alineaanalytics estimates).
Overall, around 62.5% of Phantom Blade Zero’s pre-launch copies sold have been in China, Taiwan, or Hong Kong. These markets – but predominantly China – account for 75.9% of the copies on Steam and about 24.9% on PS5.
PB0 has already generated $43M in revenue, with 69.2% via Steam and 30.8% via PS5 – slightly different shares due to regional pricing and the higher share of copies sold in lower-priced countries on Steam.
Now, the review embargo’s been lifted ahead of Phantom Blade Zero’s October 29 launch, and critics across the world are gushing. It’s currently sitting at 88 on Metacritic, and is yet another game-of-the-year contender in an already BANGING year.
PB0 has also sold another 80K+ copies since the embargo lifted yesterday. And it’s already a top 40 new 2026 game by revenue (across PlayStation, Steam, and Xbox), and it’s not even out yet or available for purchase on Xbox.
It won't hit the highs of Black Myth's insane sales, but it'll sell a lot of copies this year in a crowded market. I can't wait to jump in later this week, myself.
More on the new free Substack.

I'm sorry but you can't nominate an unreleased game over the best action game of 2026.
It's a sacrilege to include Phantom Blade 0 and not Onimusha. Give Musashi his flowers.

Day 111
This trend of media outlets trying stand out with their reviews needs to die.
They gave both Phantom Blade 0 and Shadow of Erdtree 3/5.
They need to change the people who review games because clearly they don't enjoy playing them.
Phantom Blade Zero achieves its goal of creating wonderfully fluid and cinematic kung fu-style combat - but balance and quality issues ultimately dim its shine.
Our review:

I completed the Terrible Lizards demo today and and here are my thoughts:
🔸The atmosphere is quite eerie and you get that constant feeling that something bad is going to happen anytime
🔸The game includes parkour sections, which are genuinely fun. However, they need some polishing
🔸The game has DINOSAURS. Well not exactly, but you will be happy with what they've included
🔸The escape segments are quite thrilling. I was genuinely scared and had to put down my controller after finishing them
Terrible Lizards is launching on October 29, 2026. The game has potential and it can scratch the dinosaur itch.
It offers a good blend of horror and parkour. Also, you don't get any weapons, which adds to the overall horror.

I'm expecting it to score 90.
