Crazy to see this just a few hours after I bookmarked it
Just got a phishing email that Gmail authenticated as Google. DKIM/DMARC passed. I can see a lot of people falling for this one, since it plays to the idea that your account has already been compromised. Scammer puts the scam in an app-password name, triggers a real Google alert, then forwards the alert email to your email address. How this attack works, and why it’s convincing: 1. The trick: The attacker puts the threatening text and shortened URL into an app password’s customizable name on another account. Google incorporates that text into a real security notification and signs the email. 2. The delivery: That notification is forwarded through another mailbox to the victim. In this message, Gmail still recorded passing Google DKIM and DMARC authentication. 3. What makes it convincing: The Google sender, signature, branding, and “Check activity” button are legitimate. The suspected attacker-supplied text appears inside the same trusted-looking template, using a deadline to push you toward its separate link. 4. The giveaway: Both the notification and its genuine Google button refer to someone else’s account. The “permanent access after 24 hours” claim is false; app passwords can be revoked. Be careful out there folks!

What a sweet design
BREAKING: For the first time in American history, the Department of Energy has approved a commercial nuclear microreactor's safety analysis for full-power operations. LA-based Radiant secured the approval, with testing planned at Idaho National Laboratory.

Exhibit #342 of why normal life is boring now
Meet Idol, an open image-to-3D model. A 3D-DiT that generates complete 3D objects from just an image. Pre-trained from scratch, contains only 600M parameters, it runs on consumer GPUs, using less than 7.2 GB of VRAM and can generate 1M splats in 3 seconds. Try it today. Fully open: weights, code and demo (Apache 2.0) speridlabs.com/research/idol

Gets abducted and stuffed in a van over food as a child Builds a system to map out mobile food as an adult I just realized my app has the darkest origin story and I can't stop laughing about it 🤣

Even little Haiku found about twice as many major errors as human reviewers.
Lots of debate this week on whether journals should ban AI in peer review. We actually tested this in our new preprint, and the results were pretty clear to me. For context, I've reviewed for most of the big journals and evaluated 1,000 human reviews as an editor. I love to read and evaluate science. TLDR: From now on I won't do any peer review without AI. For clinical trials, I'd even call human-only review dangerous 🧵

I think I'll stop asking Claude for code and start asking for music videos only

Can't wait to melt my GPU with this

says LEDs are an affront to God changes Nature instead
we absolutely should in fact genetically engineer bioluminescent plants & trees and then completely eradicate the affront to God that is LED street lights from the face of the Earth

Looks like the 3070ti can benefit too, though I'm not sure if it's worth doing to mine

Everyone owes their phone an apology
so for all the people that think their phone has been listening and targeting ads even though it is almost impossible, it just might have been the tv in the room and that is basically verified xitter.gq/0x0SojalSec/status/211…

Has no one heard of Orwell? 1984? Silver screens?
WTF, $3000 Samsung TV has an always-on mic, automatic content recognition, geo tracking, network mapping, and ships your data to Samsung + 400 partners. Bro Rooted a brand-new 2025 Samsung TV after noticing absurdly targeted ads. Firmware was locked down, so zero-days it was. Got a root shell. then found: always-on voice service, ACR, geo, full telemetry pipeline, and four separate DRM systems. This isn’t a bug, It’s the product bro.
