If you go to a biochemistry lecture, you probably work in healthcare. If you work as a HCP you will meet people with appearance and values that differ from what you find appropriate. If you can't behave professionally when that happens, you are unfit to work in health.

In the car 8yo remembered there is a Shakespeare comp this week. She has yet to start learning the piece I printed for her 4w ago. Too bad, I told her, maybe next year. After a minute, she began reciting the verse of Henry V that I've been practicing for Derby Arts next May.

Was it perfect? No. Was it the entire thing? No she got about the first six lines and then with prompting got to the twelfth. It was still fun. Model learning to your kids folks. They're watching and listening.

At the park, a man told me that my child needs a dad to get her off the swing faster. As fun as that sexism is, ASD/ADHD kids don't learn task order at the same rate as peers. Sure, I could go nuclear every time she picks the swing over me. But that won't teach her task order.

You have two tasks that don't have a set order: play on swing and go there. To you or I, the order is obvious - go to parent trumps swing. As soon as I say 'Come here or trouble', I have told her the order without her having to think which task is the priority.

So basically official research is now useless because everyone is too lazy to do their work properly.

93% 2 years ago: Taxing disabled kids in PS is fine because they shouldn't get any better care than state school kids. 93% now: Taking away SS SEND support is fine because all the propaganda says they're not really disabled. SS SEND parents: My child is real so will be spared.

Blatant abuse of the system at detriment to poir schools. The average SS parent pays just £8/m donations. All these high payment 'donations' should be treated as fees, or PS fees treated as donations. How state schools became fee-paying by stealth share.google/c3VZzotFYgvJu43…

The thing about minimum wage raises that gets me is... it doesn't actually seem to make anyone less poor.

Query: how is it that a government finds it easy to implement a tax on disabled children going to school within months, but changes to carer's allowance take four years?

With caveat that people have the right to do as they please - I am utterly sick of seeing AI generated Halloween image plastic shit everywhere. I went to see an old man today whose wife had died. How do you think grieving people feel with death imagery everywhere for weeks?

I've hated Halloween ever since serving through covid. No I don't want to walk round the reservoir with my kid and find plastic skeleton corpses every 100m. No, I don't find mass graves funny. No, I don't want to explain to autistic kidlet that those are fake warning signs.

At the low budget attraction I mentioned earlier something else really bugged me. Almost nobody would play with kidlet; unusual despite autism because normally she just decides random kids are friends now. Kids looked at her blankly then ignored her. I watched to see if she...

was being weird because she is known to just get in your face and demand to reenact a musical or something but that wasn't it. The kids weren't playing outside of sibling groups. They were parallel playing. Parallel play normally ends when you're 3-4. Something badly wrong here

The Times has published a searchable list of schools by GCSE results. Checked the two most kids from my work area attend. The rate of 7-9 grades is just 11% for both, half the national average. 5-9 was 39% and 40%, national average 55%. Live in the right area and it's 90-100%

Step 1: Target private school kids for money Step 2: Target private school SEND kids for money Step 3: Target state SEND kids for money So when will the rest of the 93% be ready to pay their £3 a month extra for their own kids instead of taking off the disabled?

So where's the VAT money? It's gone in costs, isn't it? Just like we all said it would be.
Labour failed to be upfront with schools about fully funding pay rises. Their spin is unravelling - special schools have been cancelled, the high needs block has been frozen, a £2bn blackhole remains, schools are in the red, & now they are being left with difficult choices to cut SEND staff. Labour can put this right in the budget next week.

1. No they can't unless they are specially trained and have adequate time and resources, which the vast majority don't. 2. For every hour doing an ADHD diagnosis that'd be six other patients who lose their appointment.
GPs can now treat and diagnose ADHD.

I have nothing whatsoever against diagnosing and treating ADHD, but which other patients shall we cancel for that? 90 year old with a UTI? 1 year old with Down's? Suicidal chap? Woman who needs a 2 week wait for a breast lump?

Today we went pot painting. Kidlet asked how the paint dries so fast. I told her it was acrylic paint and it gets absorbed into the pottery. Another kid joined in a few mins later and asked the same question. Kidlet told her it's acrylic paint and gets absorbed into the pottery.

Communication skills are transferable between children. Penalising one set of kids for being taught more 'oracy' does not level up the others. The more everyone talks to each other, the more everyone benefits.
