Hunger Strike Day 4: Activist Asio Dorothy of @Resistance_Ug is now on her 4th day of a hunger strike while in Luzira Prison.
She was arrested on 31st August 2026 during a peaceful protest march to Parliament demanding an oil-free economy and economic freedom for ordinary Ugandans.
She has now spent 67 days in custody on the new court file since her arrest.
67 days behind bars. Four days on hunger strike. Her demand for economic justice remains unanswered.
Hunger Strike Day 3: Asio Dorothy, of @Resistance_Ug, is on Day three of her hunger strike at Luzira Maximum Security Prison after being denied mandatory bail, following 65 days in detention.
She refuses to eat until justice is served鈥攏ot only for herself but for all prisoners of conscience arbitrarily detained for speaking out against the Ugandan government.
Silencing dissent is not justice. Freedom is not a crime!

A short while ago, I spoke with our comrade Olivia Lutaaya and welcomed her back from the long period of unjustified detention. I am glad that her conviction has not been diminished by the criminal regime's persistent persecution. I assured her that the immense sacrifice she, together with other comrades, have made for a better country will never be in vain.

Leader of the Opposition @JoelSsenyonyi Ssenyonyi (Nakawa Division West, NUP) has challenged Deputy Speaker @Thomas_Tayebwa (Ruhinda North County, NRM) over remarks by Kenan Opio (Busiro County South, NRM), which he described as a threat.
Addressing Parliament on 29 October 2026, Ssenyonyi said the remarks appeared in the Hansard for 27 October and questioned why Tayebwa had not called Opio to order when he was absent and unable to defend himself.
Ssenyonyi said he did not attend former Busiro South MP Charles Matovu鈥檚 burial. After seeing footage of Herbert Tom Kinobere (Kibuku County, Independent) being chased away, he said he called Kinobere to express solidarity.
He registered his disappointment with Tayebwa, saying the parliamentary record should have been protected.

Joining the rest of well-meaning Ugandans to demand for the urgent release of Counsel Erias Lukwago, whom we understand was today rushed from jail to Mulago Hospital in very critical condition. We owe ourselves a country where no amount of political disagreement is greater than citizens' right to life and human dignity; a country where no citizen is subjected to sham judicial processes just because they oppose those in power! #FreeEriasLukwago #FreeAllPoliticalPrisoners
