The future of inclusive growth in the #IGAD region depends on more than just policy—it depends on action led by the private sector.We were honoured to have our Chairman, Mr. @Justusewoi represents the @KNCCITurkana Chapter at the #IGADRegional Learning Exchange in Addis Ababa. This focused on implementing the #KampalaDeclaration on Jobs, Livelihoods, and Self-Reliance.
The goal is clear: increase the 36% of refugees in Africa with formal employment. The success of Kenya’s Shirika Plan and other regional initiatives shows that systemic change is possible through access to jobs, loans, and social protection.
This exchange was crucial for sharing lessons, strengthening regional coordination, and amplifying private sector engagement in displacement-affected areas like Turkana. We believe that by fostering Local Economic Development, we create inclusive, thriving economies for all.

This afternoon, the Chamber President Dr Erick Rutto accompanied by Chair of the KNCCI China/Asia – Kenya Trade and Investment Promotion Committee Mr. Richard Ndung’u in a meeting organized through its China Office in Hunan Changsha, met with representatives from the Hunan Overseas Chinese Construction and Development Group and the China Society Association. The discussions focused on the proposed Chamber Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Thika.
The SEZ will include commercial and residential areas and is designed to:
• Attract investors and industries
• Boost trade and exports
• Create jobs and build skills through the Chamber Business Academy
• Develop modern infrastructure and facilities, such as a convention and exhibition centre for trade fairs and business meetings #export #manufacturing #SEZ #trade

KNCCI County Chapter Managers (CCMs) and newly recruited Project Field Officers (FPOs) under the JGP Program undergo intensive Coaching and Mentorship training conducted by JETs trainers drawn from JGP partner in charge of Technical Assistance (TA), DT Global, aimed at supporting MSME and SME entrepreneurs.
Also, KNCCI JGP technical team among them Mr. Ken Waliaula (Monitoring and Evaluation Lead) and Kinyuru Munuhe (Communications Liaison) trained FPOs and CCMs on technical aspects of the Program.
The weeklong induction and training seminar if FPOs and CCM from all the 47 KNCCI County Chapters is expected to end on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

The event brought together 47 County Chapter Managers (CCM) and newly recruited Project Field Officers (FPOs) under the Jiinue Growth Program (JGP).
In attendance were; KNCCI Directors Ken Onditi, MBS and Mr. Karanja Kirimi, KNCCI Youth Director Irene Kirimi, KNCCI Head of Membership Services James Kitavi, and JGP Program Manager at KNCCI, Esther Kimani.

Today, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) @UNHABITAT at the UN HABITAT, UN HQ in Gigiri – to engage the private sector in;
a.) Improved land management and sustainably planned human settlement,
b.) Improved access to housing, quality urban basic services and infrastructure as well as upgraded slums and informal settlements,
c.) Increased adoption of innovative mechanisms in urban economy and financing, and
d.) Climate Change, Resilience and Disaster Risk Management.
