"His answers will seldom come while you are on your knees praying, even when you may plead for an immediate response. Rather, He will prompt you in quiet moments when the Spirit can most effectively touch your mind and heart. Hence, you should find periods of quiet time to recognize when you are being instructed." Elder Richard G. Scott
God rarely shouts His truth over the frantic pounding of our own anxious pleading. The profound recognition of what you must do and the deep, settling reminder of who you really already are usually arrives after the intense effort ceases. It comes in the secondary quiet, when you finally stop trying to force the heavens open and simply allow your spirit to rest in its natural, unbroken connection to Him.

We taught a Marine Corps Captain on my mission in my first area. Looking back, he definitely had PTSD and was an alcoholic.
We left him with a copy of the Book of Mormon. I did not know if he was going to read it.
We returned the next week and he was clean shaven, glasses on, and had a calm demeanor about him. He told us that he hadn't had a drink of alcohol since he started reading the Book of Mormon. His nightmares from the GWOT stopped after reading the Book of Mormon.
This experience has never left me.

Goosebumps.
For all its faults, Western Christian culture is still worth defending.

“When presented, the proclamation did not align with the views of many in the world. Not then. Not now. There are those who take issue with the declaration on family, marriage, and gender. Some suggest the Church pull it back, revise, or even set the proclamation aside.
“The proclamation on the family is, as President Hinckley stated, doctrine, my dear brothers and sisters. The principles are not out of step but perfectly in step with the ways of the Lord and His covenant path. The teachings of the proclamation were revealed by our Lord Jesus Christ to His Apostles then and now. This is His Church; He has established the truths by which we live.”

If you only watch one episode of “Stand Forever” from @scripturecentrl, let it be this one.
I’ve seen it being mischaracterized by critics of the church right now, but its message couldn’t be more important.
I find these two quotes by Truman Madsen to be so powerful.
We should never let past tradition or revelation block us from receiving something more.
“One of Joseph Smith’s greatest strengths was that he was never so committed to what had already been revealed that he could not receive more. He expected God to continue to speak.”
“Joseph was not imprisoned by yesterday’s revelation. He knew that living prophets must have living revelation.”

So in 1829, a 23-year-old farmboy dictates the Book of Mormon in about 65 days — no notes, no rewrites.
In 1980, statisticians ran it through a computer. Not the doctrine — the tiny words every writer uses without thinking. a, of, the, and. The fingerprint you can't fake.
The verdict: two dozen DISTINCT authors inside the book. Odds of one author writing it all — under 1 in 100 billion.
How did Joseph Smieth fake two dozen fingerprints in 65 days? Unless....

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints spent more on humanitarian aid than nearly every nation on the earth in 2025.
No faith-based entity provides more humanitarian aid.
No Church membership dedicates more volunteer hours.
No organization does it at the global scale.

Abigail Shrier: "The number one symptom of depression is rumination, pathologically obsessing over your pain. Getting out of your house and accomplishing anything is good for you, sitting around, talking and thinking about your problems is a bad habit."

🪨 A powerful, lesser-known miracle from LDS Church history among the Shoshone people (and from one of my relatives!):
In 1880, missionary Amos Wright (who spoke fluent Shoshone from childhood) was called by Elder Charles C. Rich to serve among the Eastern Shoshone on the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming. His labors were incredibly fruitful — he baptized Chief Washakie and his family of 17, plus over 300 Shoshone total in just weeks, many in secret groups at night to avoid trouble.
But the most extraordinary moment came on his lonely return journey through the mountains. Wright camped alone when he heard a horse neighing. He discovered a small campfire with three Shoshone braves. He joined them for the night — but soon fell violently ill, writhing in pain. He believed it might even be a divine judgment. The braves were alarmed: if he died, the white settlers would blame them.
They searched the brush for remedies with no luck. One suggested prayer. Wright asked if any were members of the Church.
One replied he was. Wright (still in agony) ordained him on the spot and asked for a blessing. The man laid his hands on Wright’s head and prayed. Relief came immediately.
Wright then asked about the other two — they were also baptized members! He ordained them too.
All three placed their hands on his head and gave him a blessing.
Wright later wrote in his November 18, 1880 letter to President John Taylor:
“The moment they took their Hands from my Head I happened to be Entirely well, but I would be afraid and ashamed to say that I was Healed in any Other way Only by the Power of God. And whether the sick were healed through my ministrations or not I think I was Healed through the ministrations of those 3 Indians.”
A tender, reversal-of-roles miracle: the missionary who had brought the gospel to the Shoshone was healed by three new Native American brethren exercising priesthood power for the first time. Pure evidence that the Restoration belongs to all of God’s children — and that faith and authority work both ways. ✨

Lesser known LDS Church History Story time:
September 22, 1827
The exact night Joseph Smith received the golden plates from Moroni.
Heber C. Kimball (who knew nothing about Joseph or the Restoration yet) was awakened by shouting. His neighbor dragged him outside.
In the sky, Heber and others saw a massive heavenly army marching from east to west: soldiers with muskets, bayonets, knapsacks, officers with swords — they could even hear the clashing and jingling of weapons and the sound of marching feet.
A full battle scene unfolded overhead, visible for hours.
Later, Heber realized it happened the very night the plates were delivered. He and Brigham Young (miles away) both witnessed similar signs that same evening.

Have you ever noticed the way you feel the Spirit changes over time? Consider the quote from Joseph Smith below. 👇
"A person may profit by noticing the first intimation of the spirit of revelation; for instance, when you feel pure intelligence flowing into you, it may give you sudden strokes of ideas, so that by noticing it, you may find it fulfilled the same day or soon; (i.e.) those things that were presented unto your minds by the Spirit of God, will come to pass; and thus by learning the Spirit of God and understanding it, you may grow into the principle of revelation, until you become perfect in Christ Jesus."

My first sight-giving, life-giving encounter with real evidence of truth did not come with anointing clay or the Pool of Siloam. No, the instrument of truth that brought my healing from the Lord came as pages in a book—yes, the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ!
The claims of this book have been attacked and dismissed by some unbelievers, their anger often matching the vitriol of those who told the healed man he could not possibly have experienced what he knew he had experienced.
The impact in my life of the Book of Mormon is no less miraculous than was the application of spit and dirt on the blind man’s eyes.
I came to my whole-souled conviction that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a true restoration of the New Testament church and more because I cannot deny the evidence of that restoration. Since those first experiences, I suppose I have had a thousand—ten thousand?—other evidences that what I have spoken of today is true. #GeneralConference #HearHim
