Holtec International has reached another significant milestone in the historic restart of the Palisades Nuclear Plant. The project has successfully transitioned from major restoration activities to the final phase of maintenance, testing, inspections, and operational readiness before startup. Key achievements include completion of the upgraded fuel handling system, refurbishment of the turbine-generator, and numerous inspections, modernization projects, and operator training activities. This progress reflects the dedication and expertise of the Palisades team and the strong collaboration of our federal, state, and local partners as we work toward the safe and reliable return of the plant. Big milestone at the world’s largest operating geothermal energy complex. We’ve completed a 25 MW expansion at The Geysers, enough to power ~25,000 California homes with reliable, clean energy. 18 MW to @CleanPowerInfo, 7 MW already serving MCE. constellationenergy.com/news…

NUCLEAR 101: Pressurized water reactors pump water into the reactor core under high pressure to prevent the water from boiling. The water in the core is heated by fission and then pumped into tubes inside a heat exchanger to heat a separate water source to create steam.

Talk of grid reliability usually centers on technology and markets, but many utilities now say the more immediate risk is people. High turnover and accelerating retirements are eroding experience, which is problematic given that systems are growing more complex. In this commentary, David Chandler, Chief Human Resources Officer at Think Power, argues that workforce stability is now a core reliability issue, not an HR sidebar. He links staffing and training decisions to outage response, operational risk, and the ability to run a more digital, DER-heavy grid without losing situational awareness. Full commentary: powermag.com/grid-reliabilit… When you look at your own project pipeline, where is workforce risk showing up first: construction, operations, or engineering?
