“Just buy Bitcoin. Don't mine it. You'll be better off.”
I've seen this argument countless times, and I think it misses some of the most important aspects of Bitcoin mining.
Not everything about mining comes down to how many dollars you spend versus how much BTC you receive. It is important but...
You mine Bitcoin for more than just the financial return.
-You mine to gain a deeper understanding of how Bitcoin actually works.
-You mine to support decentralization and help keep mining accessible to individuals.
-You mine to contribute hashrate to the network that secures the Bitcoin you believe in.
-You mine to acquire sats directly through mining rather than purchasing them through a KYC exchange.
-You mine to become an active participant instead of simply an observer.
-You mine because you believe Bitcoin is worth securing, not just owning.
Is buying Bitcoin more cost-effective for some people? Absolutely.
But measuring Bitcoin mining strictly in terms of ROI misses the bigger picture.
Bitcoin needs miners & Bitcoin needs more individuals who understand why mining matters.

🚀TNA-OS Canaan is now FREE
for the Avalon Nano 3s and Avalon Q
TNA-OS Canaan, my custom firmware for the Avalon Nano 3s and Avalon Q, is now free for everyone to install.
No per-device fee.
Why the change?
TNA-OS is a one-man project: every line of code, every reverse-engineering session, every bug fix and every new board port is done by me.
Until now, all my firmware was given out in exchange for a coffee, as a one-off install.
Honestly, that model wasn't sustainable: a single payment per device can't fund the ongoing reverse engineering, new features, bug fixes and support for new hardware like the Avalon Q.
A small, transparent dev fee keeps development going for as long as the firmware runs, and it opens TNA-OS up to everyone.
To everyone who bought me a coffee: thank you. 🧡
You took a chance on independent firmware when it was brand new.
Your support paid for the late nights, the reverse engineering and the hardware that made this project real. Without you, TNA-OS wouldn't exist, and the Avalon Q port would never have happened.
You're the reason this firmware is now free for everyone. From this version on, every device runs the same firmware with the same 2 % fee, so everyone is on equal terms and every future update reaches all of you. You were here first, and that won't be forgotten.
How the 2 % dev fee works:
The dev pool simply joins your normal pool rotation with a 2 % share.
Your pools mine the other 98 %, by your own quotas. Your pools, quotas, failover and settings work exactly as before. The fee doesn't take one of your 8 pool slots.
It's fully transparent. The dashboard shows the dev fee's live hashrate and share count, and the API reports the same, so you can check it yourself any time.
Blocking the dev pool won't get you that 2 % back… it'll just tell you you're cheap 😉
Aside from the dev fee changes V4 introduces :
🔥Autotuner (beta/wip in v4): tunes every chip for max hashrate, efficiency, heater mode or overclock, within your power limit Install it with the TNA web flasher as usual:

A tree just fell on my house. Luckily I was not crushed as I was on that side of the house in that corner and it just damaged the corner above me and rolled off...
Smh what a way to end a week.
Time to teardown this mini 3!
Just measured at the wall for a second time.

What a great episode of The Bitcoin Mining Show!
Why hasn’t Bitcoin mining adopted universal hardware standards like the early PC industry did? ⚡⛏️
Bob Burnett @boomer_btc points out that companies like Dell, HP, and Compaq scaled by standardizing motherboards, cables, and power supplies.
Meanwhile, ASIC makers like Bitmain, Whatsminer, Canaan and Proto are often moving in different directions.
The result?
Potential bottlenecks in spare parts, repairs, and uptime for commercial operators.
