New preprint alert! What if we go beyond Period 2? SWCNT defects have focused on carbon (aryl) and oxygen. But what about phosphorus from Period 3? We introduce a simple strategy to engineer phosphorus defects in SWCNTs Check out our preprint chemrxiv.org/doi/full/10.264… @nanocarbons

Check out Christina's new work in @AdvPortfolio. She created several exciting new quantum defects in @nanocarbons and also specifies the role of oxygen, etc for the reaction. Congrats! @ruhrunibochum @Fraunhofer @SolvationSci tinyurl.com/39xwuu9u

Congrats to Valeriia Andreeva and Chen Ma! They engineered a near infrared fluorescent (and ratiometric) pH sensor using quantum defect chemistry on @nanocarbons and shed light on how it works. @JPhysChem @ruhrunibochum @SolvationSci tinyurl.com/6hwf53wx

Excited to share our new paper in @ACS_AMI! We show that NIR-fluorescent single-walled carbon nanotubes can serve as multiplexed reporters of trigger-induced peptide self-assembly, revealing pathway-dependent dynamics. @ACSPublications doi.org/10.1021/acsami.6c140…

Congrats to Juliana to her paper in @ACSChemNeurosci . She created a computational (stochastic kinetic) framework to predict how the image of sensors ( e.g. @nanocarbons or others) looks like in response to molecules released by cells. @SolvationSci tinyurl.com/yvs6e9n8

One of our most important findings so far together with the Erpenbeck lab: We reveal that immune cells release and take up catecholamine neurotransmitters (dopamine) + respond to it, which has important implications for medicine. tinyurl.com/568y46ry @nanocarbons @SolvationSci

We are looking for a postdoc to work on light induced quantum friction of carbon nanotubes in water (see nature.com/articles/s41586-0…) funded by our cluster RESOLV (TV-L E13, 2 years). A background in optics, microscopy, spectroscopy or materials is optimal. #postdoc #AcademicJobs

1/4 Check out our work with the Sulpizi and Havenith labs @Nature. We show that light can slow down diffusion of small objects (@nanocarbons), find a THz signature for it in the water and support it by simulations. @ruhrunibochum @SolvationSci nature.com/articles/s41586-0…

3/4 Optical pump probe THz spectroscopy probes the water structure and we found a unique feature that we assign to the exciton water interaction. Because of the time scales we propose that this pathway allows the nanotube to exchange momentum with the water via quantum friction.

4/4 Finally, we performed MD simulations. They support the interpretation that charge oscillations of the exciton interact with the water and are the reason. There are very interesting implications and still many open questions. Many congrats to Tanuja and Krishan+ the whole team
