Who is underciting? Using citation data, we discover male inventors often overlook female-led patents. Surprisingly, patent examiners show no bias.

Surprisingly (to me) a naive analysis shows that patents authored by women receive fewer citations, even when accounting for factors like lawyer, examiner, art unit, and time. Why is this the case? Could it be tied to patent quality? Let's delve deeper. 🤔

On average, firms discuss what is material for their own sector, in green 🟢 (i.e., Ethics and Employee Engagement, Diversity and Inclusion, for Financial Services). Interestingly, we also find that firms talk more about non-material topics, in red🔴
