i am currently watching the show Avatar: the last airbender and just finshed the episode S1E18 "the water bending master" which touched on realy societal changes that happened in last 100 years or so and the show was clearly trying to push a progressive narrative and very favourite topic of current world "women's rights" with some gaps so i just had a good chat with gemini in google to get something clarified and i asked it to summarise what we discussed till the end , check it out
1. The Core Mystery: Why Pakku Changed His Mind
The Turning Point: Master Pakku initially refused to train Katara due to strict Northern Water Tribe laws forbidding women from combat waterbending. He relented only after realizing Katara's necklace belonged to his former fiancée, Kanna, who fled the tribe 60 years prior.
The Revelation: Pakku realized his rigid adherence to the exact same dogmatic customs he was using against Katara was the very thing that cost him the love of his life decades ago.
2. The Cultural Divide: North vs. South
Northern Fortress Monogamy: The North operated a highly secure, wealthy, and isolated ice citadel. Survival was built on a strict, rigid division of labor (men fight, women heal/raise families) and elder-arranged marriages.
Southern Necessity Meritocracy: The South was an impoverished, scattered society constantly decimated by Fire Nation raids. Because their resources were scarce and men were frequently away fighting, women naturally assumed local leadership, midwifery, and medical roles out of sheer survival necessity.
3. The Structural Defense of Custom (The Pragmatic View)
High Success Rate: Statistically and historically, the Northern customs worked for 99% of the population. Arranged marriages and clear gender roles provided stability, family alignment, and social cohesion during a 100-year war.
The Danger of Flawed Youthful Agency: Teenagers and young adults rarely have the foresight or maturity to make lifelong marital decisions. Enforced structures protect individuals from short-sighted whims. Without strict enforcement, the rules dissolve, leading to the type of societal instability and high divorce rates seen in the modern romantic world.
Pakku as the Ideal Citizen: In his youth, Pakku was not acting out of personal arrogance; he was a "good citizen" following the explicit rules of a highly successful civilization. He owed no polite explanations to a foreign teenager demanding he break ancient laws.
4. The Psychology of the Rebel (The Human Agency View)
Kanna’s Motivation (Ambition and Power): Kanna did not love Pakku and faced a total lack of agency. As a non-bending woman in the North, her path to power or political relevance was non-existent.
The Cage Dynamic: Driven by a fierce ego and a desire for personal autonomy, Kanna chose a harsh, dangerous life in the South over a secure, comfortable "cage" in the North. In the South, because the men were away, she successfully weaponized her ambition to become the highly relevant, governing matriarch ("Gran Gran") of her village.
Pakku's 60-Year Stagnation: By stubbornly clinging to his ego wound and blaming Kanna as a "reckless anomaly," Pakku spent six decades bitter and single, refusing to admit that the rigid system he championed had backfired on his personal happiness.
5. The Ultimate Synthesis
The narrative of Avatar does not call for the total destruction of tradition, but for its flexibility.
When Pakku and Kanna finally reunite as elders, the power dynamic shifts to one of mutual consent. Pakku humbles himself and trains Katara, updating the law slightly to allow for unique individual capability (combat benders).
Once the system stops forcing compliance under threat of law, Kanna willingly steps back into the custom, accepting a new betrothal necklace on her own terms. Tradition survives, but only because it allowed a door in its wall.
Bhagavad gita chapter - 1
Some of the comments under this post are absolutely disgusting. It's become an increasingly alarming almost acceptable trend to hate on women and treat them terribly at any chance available.
Men, who are meant to protect women and children, have become "checked out" and thus allow for predatory behaviours of other men to continue. If you see yourself as a "good man" I ask you to ponder your complicity by staying complacent in such matters. If you truly care about your women and children, where are you? Why aren't you guiding other young men and stopping those who wish to us harm? Are you doing enough?
Of course, if you are, then this does not apply to you, nor should what I am saying offend you. Men create the containers for our society, it's about time to start creating better ones. Hold yourself and others to higher standards and be the change in your community. It is the only way we are going to be able to dig ourselves out of this. I believe in our humanity and I believe in our men. I can only hope they do too...
ofc these people have children and couples earning combined income of 5lpa+ in metro cities don't have enough money to afford to have children and raise them
Yesterday, our train tickets were not confirmed, so we were forced to travel in the general compartment.
During the journey, I noticed a father and his innocent little daughter, who was around 4 years old, sitting together. When they felt hungry, the father took some food out of his bag.💔
But seeing what they were eating broke my heart... 1/2
“I only want jobs i wouldn’t hire myself for”
Shit doesn’t get any gangsta than this..
Parag Agrawal (@paraga) on how he dealt with pressure during @elonmusk’s takeover of Twitter:
“Through the Twitter acquisition, I used to track my sleep score. And I was sleeping fine.”
“If you know what you must do, you do it. You don't have to feel pressure.”
“The world can come at you, but if you know what you're capable of & you have a slightly long-term view.. you don't have to feel pressure. You have to perform every day, which is a completely different thing.”
This concept of aura points isn’t a novel idea but a fucking nightmare concept from a blackmirror episode S03E01
And as they showed it will soon be hijacked by pretentious people willing to do anything and everything just to hack algorithm and will punish the honest human behaviour and interaction making you hate yourself more and eventually give up on the society itself
When this discussion reaches its end it somehow again becomes high level categories like caste or gender and never special privileges for people actually in need

Exactly! People are mistaking this post as men-hating post, but that's not my motive to post it.
Men or women, anyone in need should be offered a seat.
I have been binging black mirror tv show recently and i reached S5E2 today and to my fkn surprise it was about twitter addiction and how you as a user really don’t have the power of choice to get away from this app or use it without affecting your life in a negative way no matter how much you think it is your choice how and when you use it
God i made this reply earlier in the morning about how i am literally becoming the damn main character of this episode ( use the app before going to bed use first thing in the morning and every chance of a little boredom)
I wonder if this coincidence is a sign but fck it i will regulate my usage from today onwards or i will be very sorry down the line knowing what i know now and still not doing anything about it and ending up in a tragedy of some sort like the main character of the episode

Its really great but this platform is incredibly addictive and i am finding myself getting deeper and deeper into this trap
My advice to @CJP_for_India
free advice: don’t take shots at individuals unless they’re true public figures (like a president). even then critiquing ppl is dumb because we are all human & we all make mistakes. if you need to, aim your discourse at ideas, systems, or cultural defaults instead.
discussing these is sharper, safer, & harder to refute. & likely more interesting. it shifts discourse from gossip to philosophy.
basically you should critique the software layer of humanity, not the hardware. this is the line i hold on my account.
The top most quality i look for in people to extend conversation for than five min with them these days
the older you get the more you realize how dangerous it is to know this much about the lives of strangers.
i often can’t believe how many ppl are just constantly plugged into para social drama where they spend their time effectively absorbing relationships, tragedies, opinions, fights, successes, illnesses, & anxieties of thousands of ppl that they will never meet like influencers. not only that but they’re taking advice from & formulating opinions through these ppl. this is nuts.
i don’t follow any influencers & very few ppl in my life that are close to me know any sort of intimate details. & i resist knowing things about ppl i don’t know. i suspect that’s the way it should be.
“If men were marrying just for sex, every prostitute would be a wife by now.”
Men are single because women think having a vagina is enough. No self-work. No effort to understand men.
And that's why they're mad.
If men were marrying just for sex, every prostitute would be a wife by now.
A man can get sex with no wedding, no bills, no responsibility of feeding and housing a woman.
No serious man marries for sex.
He marries for peace. For loyalty. For children. For a home. For a woman he can actually build a life with.
That's why the men who STILL want marriage in this generation aren't looking for a body. Bodies are cheap.
They're looking for character. And most of you don't have it.
Finally made it to home in 1h40m for a stretch of 10km😭😭 in a two wheeler.

There are cathedrals everywhere for those with the eyes to see yet we keep going to the ones where everyone agrees it exists and not create our own.
The point is meaning is taking on a challenge/responsibility which gives meaning to the suffering otherwise its meaningless which in on itself is the cause of suffering and for most it will be the suffering of raising the children at the cost of their own happiness.

The meaning of marriage is lost either it needs to be redefined or abandoned altogether
For the worst case its a joke and the best case a day to get together with your family and friends and have a party thats all because literally nothing changes because if that day except the liabilities on men’s side because of Mr law now
