Sick and twisted. Stop the cruelty.

Wow. Maher sold his soul for this!
President Trump posted a more than 1300-word rant against Bill Maher, in which he tucks in that he is “not building a swimming pool in the White House briefing room,” but is still considering moving the press out.

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty

A surprising new study finds that people who sleep near their dogs don’t experience disrupted sleep. If anything, the University of Toronto researchers discovered, we humans are the ones disturbing our dogs’ sleep. nbcnews.com/health/health-ne…

I swear to you, what we are living through in Gaza has gone beyond all limits of reason and beyond what the human mind can comprehend. Tonight, a house near us collapsed. More than 16 people were killed, and more than 100 people are still missing at this moment. Six entire families are trapped under the rubble, and no one knows how many people may still be alive beneath it. The scene is unbearably painful. Children, women, and elderly people are trapped under the rubble, entire families waiting for someone to rescue them. Their voices may still be buried beneath these ruins, but there is not enough equipment to reach them. There are no machines capable of clearing the rubble, and no rescue teams equipped to deal with this scale of destruction. Time is passing, while people remain trapped beneath tons of concrete and debris. These children did nothing. They were simply trying to survive. They fled the tents searching for somewhere that could protect them, only to find themselves buried beneath the ruins of a home. How can anyone comprehend that a child could be spending their final hours trapped under the rubble, while no one is able to reach them? Gaza is collapsing before our eyes. Families are being buried, children are being left beneath the rubble, and the world is watching. Do something. Do not leave these people to die beneath the rubble in silence.

Are we seriously still debating raising the retirement age and cutting benefits for working people to keep Social Security solvent while someone earning $1 million stops paying Social Security tax after their first $184,500 in wages? C’mon, bro.

Great day on Friday, in my role as Consulting Genealogist Guide for @Ancestry @AncestryUK @AncestryProGenealogy taking a lovely couple "Walking In The Footsteps of Their Ancestors" around rural Hampshire and Portsmouth to find a man who was a soldier in Bohemia, an explorer and founder of Colonial America, an Artilleryman in London, and a Lieutenant Governor of Portsmouth, then mysteriously disappeared at the time of the English Civil War. Huge amount of research into Charles I State Papers, Parish Registers, forensic AI analysis of multiple volumes of early colonial records, and deep research on the characters he interacted with, which gave us a deep insight into the man, his world, and his likely destiny. "The day with Paul was amazing. He did an excellent job on connecting the dots with what little information we knew. His drive for answers was a definite plus for my understanding of the family. I would have never been able to learn so much about my father’s side of the family. I can’t thank everybody enough that was involved in my ancestral journey. Everyone exceeded my expectations with their knowledge of my ancestral journey."

Some, I hope, more matured thought about the Study Group 9 Report from the Synod, why they are right, and how we might take things forward from here. Also available in Spanish and Portuguese jamesalison1.substack.com/p/…

Do not let anyone tell you that you shouldn't record law enforcement (so long as you're not physically impeding them). Citizen video has decisively rebutted the administration's lies. The evidence of our eyes contradicts the dishonesty of the administration's words.

War is back in vogue and a zeal for war is spreading. The principle established after the Second World War, which prohibited nations from using force to violate the borders of others, has been completely undermined. #Peace is no longer sought as a gift and a desirable good in itself. Instead, peace is sought through weapons as a condition for asserting one’s own dominion. This gravely threatens the rule of law, which is the foundation of all peaceful civil coexistence. vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

Pastor: I saw ICE agents circling a young woman who appeared to be Hispanic. I said to this ICE agent, 'Take me, stop harassing her.' The agent got in my face, pointed a gun at me, and said, 'Are you afraid now?' To which I said, 'I am not afraid.' The next thing I knew, they were putting handcuffs on me, and they put me in the back of an SUV. I asked them if I was under arrest. They said to me, 'Well, you're white, you won't be any fun anyway.'
