TLDR: My cancer spread. A year ago, I had surgery to remove half of my thyroid due to Thyroid Cancer. When going for my consultation, I pleaded to have all of it removed, but they advised not to so my thyroid function would be better since the other side had no tumor. Fast forward to a few months ago, a large nodule was noted on a routine ultrasound. Last week, I did an ultrasound guided biopsy and yesterday the path came back— the cancer is now on the remaining thyroid lobe. I need to have it removed. I have insurance and I have met my deductible, HOWEVER, I owe 50% coinsurance, which amounts to $8,764.25. This needs to be paid a week before the surgery. Needless to say, I don't have nearly $9k to just toss at a surgery. I'm also a single mother who would need to arrange child care, have a caretaker for 6 weeks, and have transportation to and from the surgery and such. Last time, it was a nightmare. I wouldn't have gotten through it without my son's father. I'm scared, I'm frustrated for not sticking by what I wanted a year ago, and I am so so so sorry to you all to be asking for your help.
