Brain training (such as sudoku) for 3 minutes a day could improve the brain health of older adults. In a study of more than 6,500 people aged 50 years and older, participants who completed brain training saw improvements in: 🧠thinking and problem-solving 🧠memory 🧠attention. Improvements were small, but any improvement could have a big impact at the population level. Read the findings: evidence.nihr.ac.uk/alert/br… #WorldAlzheimersMonth @AlzResearchUK

Falls are the leading cause of hospital admissions and injury-related deaths in people aged over 65. Despite lots of work into falls prevention, falls still occur and we’re funding research to evaluate the clinical and cost-effectiveness of an intervention focused on (re)training older adults to independently return to standing following a fall. Really hoping digital solutions are being found to enable eFI2 to be accessible throughout 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 as a population tool for identifying and supporting older people living with frailty @online_his @GeriSoc @dhiscotland #datachangeslives
In 2016, our journal, @Age_and_Ageing, published the Electronic Frailty Index. It was highly influential and is used across the NHS to identify frailty within a population. This revolutionary has been updated, with the Electronic Frailty Index 2 (eFI2)! buff.ly/d2K5abr

It’s time for an end to torso-based medicine. It’s not practical or possible for all older people to get a CGA. But they should all get an assessment of cognition and function. What is their 4AT? And how are they mobilising today (compared to normal) should be as common as NEWS
Incredibly valuable and fits with what we see in practice. An abnormal 4AT score is not normal. I see many patients with moderate or even severe dementia with 4AT scores 1-3
