Today's win by Longford Slashers Ladies in the Leinster LGFA Club SFC semi-final, was only the 7th win by a Longford club in the competition and only the 4th away win. They are now the first Longford club to reach the Leinster LGFA Club SFC Final.
Today's game between Clonguish and The Downs was the 88th game played by a Longford club in Leinster Club SFC competition (W24, L55, D9). Despite a good performance from Clonguish, this was the 7th straight loss for Longford clubs in the competition since 2019.
The good news is that this was a great performance from Clonguish. The bad news is that this is now 7 in a row losses in Leinster Club SFC - the worst run for Longford clubs in the history of the competition.

Longford's club record in Leinster Club IFC is a tough read. Early success in reaching the Leinster Final in 2005, but since then just 1 game won in 21 years!
Mostrim's 23-point loss in today's Leinster Club IFC Round 1 game vs Milltown (Kildare) at Pearse Park continues an abysmal record for Longford clubs in this competition. Since reaching the Leinster IFC final in 2005, Longford clubs have managed to win just 1 game in 21 years!
Clonguish and The Downs meet this Sunday in Round 1 of Leinster Club SFC. The sides have met once before in this competition, back in November 1972 at Cusack Park. The The Downs came from behind to score 1-3 in the last 6 minutes to advance to the Quarter Final on that occasion.
Sunday's Leinster LGFA Club SFC Semi-Final between Longford Slashers and Tinahely (Wicklow) will be the 30th fixture for a Longford club in Leinster Club SFC since 1982 (W6, L23). Slashers are aiming to become the first Longford club to reach the Leinster LGFA Club SFC final.
