It's funny how these people think those Tibet separatist protests in Europe during the 2008 Beijing Olympic relay was spontaneous and self-organized.
When the funding stops, Westerners will automatically move to the next anti-China issue. From Tibet to Xinjiang to Hong Kong.
It’s crazy how Europeans demonstrated for Tibetan independence in the ’90s and then suddenly just lost interest, even though the situation in Tibet hasn’t changed at all since then. Today, Europeans are even asking China if it could mediate with Russia regarding Ukraine. I can understand why governments and European politicians don’t want to cross powerful China. But even ordinary citizens—the protesters from back then, who don’t have to worry about such economic and diplomatic ties—they, too, seem to have vanished. Tibet is no longer in vogue; it’s out of fashion.

A French politician accusing China of “exploiting foreigners for profit” is almost too perfect.
France spent centuries building an empire across Africa through colonial extraction, forced labor, resource control and political domination.
Now the former colonial power wants to lecture China about “exploitation.”
The irony writes itself.
Europe’s old empires extracted wealth at gunpoint.
Now they rebrand themselves as moral referees and accuse everyone else of the sins that built their own prosperity.
Colonial memory is short.
Colonial arrogance is not.

This is another window of opportunity for the Chinese to shore up their further defences and trade, and then to come, you know, to the new two years from now, come at it from a position of even greater strength.’
