Texas, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Kansas flipped Senate seats. Meanwhile, Oklahoma had a chance to change who runs this state, and rural Oklahoma helped hand the governor’s office right back to the Republicans. I'm pissed. What gets me is that poverty is higher in rural Oklahoma than it is in our cities. If anybody has a reason to ask what years of Republican leadership have done for their community, it’s the people in those towns. So what exactly did Republicans do to earn another four years? I’m from the Eastside of OKC. I come from a family of educators, and I’ve stood in front of classrooms myself. I’ve heard “we’ll figure it out” enough times to know who usually has to do the figuring. It damn sure ain’t the people asking for our votes. I’ve hesitated before. I usually end up saying what I think anyway. So I'll ask it straight up. Mazzei talked about Sharia in the primary, and by Election Day a super PAC was running ads about “sex changes for kids.” Meanwhile, people are standing in the grocery aisle putting things back. Republicans just won another four years in Oklahoma’s governor’s office. My question is still the same. What the hell did y’all do with the last four?
