We remember their service. We honour their sacrifice. On Remembrance Sunday, London joins the nation in paying tribute to the brave men and women who served our country and helped secure the freedoms we enjoy today. Their legacy must never be forgotten.

Today marks 80 years since the National Health Service Bill, championed by Aneurin Bevan, received Royal Assent, paving the way for the NHS to launch on 5 July 1948. It was a radical idea: that healthcare should be available to everyone, based on need, not the ability to pay.

"Le Roy le veult" - Eighty years ago today, King George VI gave his Royal Assent to the 1946 National Health Service Act, commanding the establishment of a comprehensive service to improve the nation's health. A visionary ambition brought to life.

On this day in 1946, King George VI gave Royal Assent to the National Health Services Act. The birth of our NHS. A bold and historic new principle - healthcare for all, free when you need it. Eight decades later, that principle is as powerful as ever. To everyone who has worked in our NHS and care services since then: thank you. For being there and caring for all of us when we need you. You are the reason that principle still stands.

🤝 @JamesFrith welcomes @AshleyDalton_MP to the department as an adviser on the National Cancer Plan. The former health minister, who is living with metastatic breast cancer, will work directly with Minister Frith to make sure patients are at the heart of the plan.

Maiden speech✅ A real privilege to speak about the story, spirit and people of Holborn & St Pancras in my maiden speech in the House of Commons during Monday’s Budget Debate. Proud to represent our community and share what makes our constituency so special. Link in my bio!

Glad another rapist is off our streets. The victims in this case are true heroes, attending Court & reliving their experiences under hostile questioning must’ve been difficult beyond belief. I hope his forthcoming sentence reflects the depravity of his actions. #russellbrand

Great to visit the team at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital and see how they're embodying many of the things we want to see in emergency departments across the country.
✅ Preparing the NHS for winter. 🏥 Watch @KarinSmyth go inside Midland Met University Hospital to see how their team are preparing services to support patients and staff through the busier winter months. Take a look 👇

With rising abuse aimed at MPs, it does feel scary to work in politics. My MP is great and makes sure we’re all looked after - but that may not be a universal experience. I back @GMB_MPs_Staff’s One Parliament One Employer campaign for this reason! labourlist.org/2026/11/mps-s…

I'm delighted to have been appointed as the Advisor for the National Cancer Plan! I'll be highlighting where delivery is off track and further intervention may be needed and assessing whether the Plan is delivering improvements in quality of life and patient experience.

As Breast Cancer awareness month draws to a close, thank you to all those campaigning to raise awareness, supporting patients and survivors, and improving treatment and care across the country. 🩷 At the Royal Marsden this week, I talked to clinicians, researchers and patients about their radiotherapy trial, which is radically reducing breast cancer treatment times. Our world leading scientists and our NHS coming together to transform cancer care and save lives. This kind of innovation is central to our National Cancer Plan. That's why I'm so pleased that @AshleyDalton_MP, who helped shape the Plan as a minister, is now our ministerial adviser, helping to keep patients at the heart of our work and drive forward progress.
