We just lost a Godzilla legend today 😔🕊️ Veteran Japanese suit actor Kazuhiro Yoshida has passed away at 56. Yoshida spent roughly four decades working in action and suit performance. Kaiju fans will know him best from Godzilla: Final Wars, where he stepped inside the suits of not one, but two classic monsters: Gigan and Hedorah. He later portrayed the title creature in Geharha: The Dark and Long Haired Monster. Away from movie sets, Yoshida also brought heroism into the real world through Ganbari Alpha, a Fukuoka-based local hero he began performing as in 2021. The character became part of community events, cleanups, and visits to elderly residents, giving Yoshida another way to use suit acting to make people smile. Rest in peace, Kazuhiro Yoshida. The face may have been hidden beneath the suit, but the performance inside helped make the monsters unforgettable. 🕊️

Frank Welker’s career is almost impossible to summarize with one character, because for more than half a century, he has been hiding in plain sight inside animation itself. 🎙️ He can be a talking hero, a calculating villain, a terrified animal, or a creature that never speaks a single recognizable word. That ability to make even non-human characters feel alive is a huge part of why Welker has remained so respected across generations. And then there is his legendary connection with Peter Cullen. Beginning with The Transformers in 1984, Cullen’s Optimus Prime and Welker’s Megatron became one of animation’s defining rivalries. Decades later, the two voices are still inseparable from the Autobots and Decepticons for millions of fans. Some of Welker’s most popular roles include: Megatron (Transformers) Fred Jones (Scooby-Doo) Scooby-Doo (Scooby-Doo) Garfield (The Garfield Show) Abu (Aladdin) Nibbler (Futurama) Ray Stantz / Slimer (The Real Ghostbusters) Brain / MAD Cat (Inspector Gadget) Ralph T. Guard (Animaniacs) Goddard (Jimmy Neutron) Bullseye (Toy Story) Barney Rubble (The Flintstones) Welker’s legacy isn’t simply the enormous number of credits. It’s realizing that some of the voices, creatures, and sounds we’ve known our entire lives were coming from the same extraordinary performer. And beside Peter Cullen, he helped create a rivalry that became part of animation history 💯

Kevin Michael Richardson has spent decades proving that a deep voice can do far more than simply sound intimidating. 🎙️🔥 Since the 1990s, Richardson has become one of animation’s most dependable character actors, moving between villains, warriors, authority figures, comedy, and completely bizarre personalities. His voice is immediately recognizable, yet the characters themselves rarely feel interchangeable. Some of his most popular roles include: Captain Gantu (Lilo & Stitch) The Joker (The Batman) Trigon (Teen Titans) Principal Lewis (American Dad!) Bulkhead (Transformers: Prime) Shredder (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) Goro (Mortal Kombat) Cleveland Brown Jr. (The Cleveland Show) Kamek (The Super Mario Bros. Movie) Mauler Twins (Invincible) What makes Richardson’s career impressive is its sheer reach. Disney fans, DC fans, gamers, comedy audiences, and multiple generations of cartoon viewers can all recognize completely different characters from the same performer. Kevin Michael Richardson didn’t build his legacy around one famous role. He built it by making himself impossible to leave out of animation history.
