Finally finished spreading manure on bean stubble Approximately 350 tons on close to 30 acres That ought to help the corn crop next year
Planted a few acres of oak a few years ago They’re a slow growing tree but a few have really taken off & their colours in the fall are beautiful
My parents left a 100 acre bush lot for all their grandchildren to enjoy It’s a rugged piece of property but I donated 2 days with my mini-ho cleaning up trails Looking much better now and certainly more accessible
Great to be home from a 12 day very successful Elk hunt & the meat delivered to the butcher But looking out this morning at all of these leaves is making me realize that the leaf blower & I are going to get a workout in the next couple days
A bucket list trip that took me 70 years to get done Very happy with this bull Top quality meat that will be coming back to Ontario
You get the odd “strange” picture when you have game cams out This is either a bear rubbing his nose on camera or maybe a black squirrel climbed up the tree for a photo bomb
Son found a puffball & shared some of it Fried in butter along with a bowl of Darlin’s homemade chicken noodle soup made a lunch of champions
A beautiful “mythical/mystic/magical” morning on the lake! And 10 minutes later I look out to see the mist rising & out of it swam a pair of swans 🦢 & what I think is a goose A stunning morning
Wasn’t planning on seal coating until next year but the guy who laid this recycled asphalt 6 years ago showed up and we worked out a price
This pair of swans 🦢 have been here for over a month now I believe it’s the longest they’ve ever stayed And with the forecast for warm temperatures next week I’m thinking they’re not gonna leave just yet Great to see them no matter long we have them
Made my annual fall trip to a buddy’s orchard to pick up some “juice apples” The deer 🦌 love them but so do squirrels chipmunks birds raccoons rabbits bears & coyotes
Can’t remember ever lighting fireplace on 14th of Sept but it took the dampness out & a good way to spend the end of a miserable wet day It didn’t stop the wildlife from moving This big fella was strutting his stuff while this young coyote stopped to howl in front of the camera
Got a bat box stained & installed I will try almost anything to cut down on the amount of mosquitoes we get Google (if you can believe it) says a bat will eat 600-1,000 mosquitoes an hour Check back with me next June!
A beautiful morning in paradise Sitting having coffee & just watched a Bald Eagle 🦅 gracefully fly by our dock 10 feet off the water I’m taking that as “it’s going to be a great week”
Our oldest is turning 50 so a “pit party” like they used to have when they were teenagers is being planned My job was to mow an area for campers & parking That pile of brush got burnt a couple days later in the middle of a nice gentle rain
Was great to get away for a few days but it’s always nice to be home Morning coffee & then a bit of a crop tour Really happy with this crop of soybeans this year! Fall is here so these beans won’t be green much longer!
Had great trip on Pelee Islander II as well as a tour of the wheelhouse thanks to Captain Brett Really enjoyed historic Pelee Island including the old Town Hall & the 1st phone booth I’ve seen in years (and it still works) Then on to Sandusky & Cleveland to see the @BlueJays win
