That's NBC's own numbers guy saying it on the Today Show, not some MAGA podcast.
Minnesota hasn't voted Republican for president since 1972, the longest blue streak in the whole country.
But it's an open Senate seat now that Tina Smith is out, and it's Michele Tafoya, the old Sunday Night Football sideline reporter, against Peggy Flanagan, Walz's lieutenant governor.
Hanging over all of it is a Medicaid fraud scandal that blew up on Walz's watch, the kind of thing that moves the people in the middle.
Trump already cut the margin to about 4 points in 2024. An open seat and a fraud scandal is how a 50-year streak finally snaps.
