NEW LAWSUIT: Man arrested while holding Israeli flag sues Montreal and four police officers.
With support from The Lawfare Project, Daniel Bercovici is suing the City of Montreal and four Montreal police officers over his arrest at the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal on September 14, 2025.
According to the lawsuit, Bercovici was peacefully holding an Israeli flag in support of the Israel Premier Tech cycling team while approximately 200 anti-Israel demonstrators protested its participation. Within seconds of approaching Bercovici, officers allegedly pushed him along the barrier and took him to the ground, injuring and arresting him. The lawsuit also alleges that demonstrators attempted to strike him with flagpoles, yet no arrests were made or investigation opened concerning those attempts.
The lawsuit further alleges that officers filed materially false reports that are contradicted by video evidence and led to Bercovici’s prosecution for obstructing a peace officer. More than ten months later, prosecutors withdrew the charge, expressly because of video evidence provided by the defense, according to the filing.
Bercovici is represented by Michael Hollander and Neil G. Oberman of Spiegel Ryan LLP.

The Muslim Brotherhood has a very strong foothold in France; in their educational system, in their trade associations, in their politics, and it’s the same parties that are trying to bring that here to the United States.
Mamdani supports, for example, the CURB Act. He wants to dismantle the NYPD’s strategic response group, the very group that’s supposed to be deployed when we have riots, when we have civil unrest on the streets.
They are openly calling to disband that NYPD group, while at the same time justifying this type of violence. Why? Free Palestine. There we go. So we are doing this to ourselves.
