ALT Welcome sign for Layers of Vision: Layers of Vision is an art exhibition that explores the experiences and perspectives of blind and partially sighted (BPS) artists living in a world made for sighted people. In meaningfully co-created and joyful ways, Layers of Vision raises attention to, and challenges, the barriers that people who are blind or have sight loss are facing in everyday life. It does so by exhibiting ten artworks that celebrate and creatively explore accessibility. Each artwork, in its own way, appreciates different forms of vision and features multisensory elements to foster engagement and stimulate discussions. Each questions common views and practices around access and disability inclusion in the arts and beyond.

ALT The image shows 3 of the 4 images that comprise this work; image one at the far left corner, shows a cityscape of Edinburgh at sunset with the majestic castle in the background. Image two second from the left shows a tourist looking into the camera with crowds surrounding him in the busy cityscape. Image three, third from the left shows a majestic tree with a small individual looking upwards at its magnificence. The final image on the right hand side shows a seascape with a green island off in the distance.

ALT This is an image of Zoe’s installation as seen from inside of the exhibition window. Thin tall tubes containing LED lights that produce purple or yellow light are positioned vertically from floor to ceiling in a line. The installation takes up the whole of the length and height of window. In the background is the Strand pavement, some passers-by, trees and in the far end buildings.
