THIS MORNING: Meta's glasses stop recording if you cover the LED light that shows you're recording before you start filing. I bought Meta glasses, started recording, then covered the LED light with black gaffer tape, concealing that I was recording, and it kept recording. Another issue Meta's engineers will likely be working on to crack down on people using the glasses to clandestinely record. We went live on @CBSMornings live-streaming my Ray-Ban Meta glasses straight to my insta story:
A video of Toluwa Omitowoju received hundreds of thousands of views online — but she didn’t post it, nor did she know that she was being recorded at the time with Meta’s AI glasses.
Her story is part of growing privacy concerns surrounding people recording their surroundings without the consent of others.
Meta told CBS News about safety features, like an LED light that turns on when the glasses are recording, but some users have allegedly tried to tamper with those safeguards. CBS News’ Anna Schecter put one such method to the test.

Re: our statement on Image Generation in Google Earth:
“We know that people uniquely trust Google Earth for a reliable view of the world. We’ve seen geospatial professionals using this feature for a range of useful purposes, however we’ve also seen people sharing screenshots of generated imagery that appear to violate our policies. So we’re rolling back this feature in Google Earth while we work on implementing stronger guardrails. It's important to note that generated images didn’t appear in the main Google Earth experience for others to see and were watermarked as AI generated.”

More than 30 remained in hospitals yday with battle injuries — one at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, 12 at Walter Reed, and about 25 at Landstuhl in Germany, sources said.
Of those, about 20 arrived on a C-17 military transport aircraft at Landstuhl on Tuesday with injuries the military designated as “urgent” and requiring evacuation.

A dresser in the Merchant's House Museum, built in 1832, has been discovered as a secret link to the Underground Railroad — the first of its kind discovered in Manhattan in over 100 years.
NY1 received an exclusive first look at the concealed passage, which runs from the second floor down to a pantry hideaway in the basement.
The passageway had been known about for decades, but its purpose was unknown to historians. Museum researchers recently discovered that the builder of the Merchant’s House, Joseph Brewster, was a passionate abolitionist who built false floors in integrated abolitionist churches and created this route in his own home to aid freedom seekers.
