#Gaza - Dear God - isn’t this enough to make world leaders act, and act speedily, to ensure aid reaches the people of Gaza? And then seek a solution that guarantees their safety and dignity.

Economic populism also means dethroning economics. It’s not the job of economists to dictate how our economies should be run but to find solutions to implement democratically determined goals.

I remember when I lived in #Gaza just how devastating the rains were each November - and that was without almost an entire population sheltering in tents and under flimsy plastic sheeting!
Israel’s obstruction of all forms of shelter and aid is an atrocity!

I'm not sure there is a way to end the war other than by linking it to a broader arrangement on European security. (The best arrangement, in my view, is a demilitarized Europe.)

7/ Russia's objective is to link two processes: negotiations over ending the war against Ukraine and US-Russian negotiations over the broader European security order. That is, to incorporate any decisions about Ukraine into a wider US-Russian settlement on European security

Excellent survey by @proud_diplomat of how British elites are trying to fearmonger their alienated public into war.
A version of this is happening all over (most of) Europe, each country's elites being shrill and demented in their very own special way.

Submerged for 210 days. There is now even greater pressure on the submariners as well as the obvious risks around having nuclear reactors, missiles and nuclear warheads on board old tin cans. Heads in the sand does not come near it. navylookout.com/royal-navy-s…

The level of ignorance amongst our elected representatives about the gravity of climate change, the growing threat of tipping points eg AMOC collapse, & of just how far we have failed to both do what is needed & honour our *international commitments* eg Paris is truly frightening
Just a few weeks ago our SNP membership overwhelmingly passed a motion at conference which acknowledged that if domestic energy production is less carbon intensive than imported energy, then to produce it here is the responsible choice.
If Scotland had had control over our resources from the beginning, then we would be sitting with a wealth fund worth over £1 trillion.
Just think what £1 trillion invested into Scotlands renewable sector would look like now.
But that wealth doesn’t exist, because Westminster squandered the opportunity and denied us our potential.
We won’t let them play the same trick twice, and that’s why the membership, MSPs, MPs and Ministers all voted to put Scotlands energy in Scotlands hands.

Marching to Bute House to remind John Swinney and the Scottish Government that a year ago they recognised that what Israel is carrying out in Palestine amounts to the crime of genocide. The Scottish Parliament voted to support sanctions but has taken no action.

"If Scotland had had control over our resources from the beginning, then we would be sitting with a wealth fund worth over £1 trillion" - this argument is irrelevant to climate catastrophe

While protesters are arrested for speaking their mind outside the Supreme Court this week, I’m afraid I’m not so brave - I asked @FaberBooks to redact a line in Abolish Westminster, because, with three young children, I can’t go to jail & leave my wife with all the childcare.

They did this after previous protests. Looks like a tactic to avoid images of Scottish police dragging peaceful pensioners around.

Well, if Europe cannot come up with an idea of "mutually agreed arrangements that reduce the risk of future conflict" someone should. (Not that I believe the current US is up to the job, but at least they have the right words.)
