A recent video of Jabalia refugee camp, where my mother was born and where my wife, our children, and I took shelter in October and November 2023, before we eventually left Gaza in December of that year.
Jabalia was the subject of several of my essays for The New Yorker, including pieces that formed part of my Pulitzer Prize-winning work in 2025. In one essay, I described the destruction I witnessed in the camp in the early weeks of the g,en.oc!de.
Today, so much of the camp has been reduced to rubble as israel continues to commit atrocities on a daily basis.
The ICC, UN Commission of Enquiry, IAGS, institutes & watchdogs for genocide prevention, the winner of the Nobel peace prize, & numerous human rights organisations disagree.
Netanyahu’s govt has repeatedly stated its intent in Gaza & the WB is genocide & ethnic cleansing.

I love these photos, taken by Hanady Hathaleen—wife of the late Awdah, who was murdered by a settler in Umm al-Khair last year—with their youngest son, Kinan. It was taken just minutes before the settler attack that led to my being banned from the West Bank. It is so rare to find a place across the world that actually feels like home.

From above, the full truth becomes clear.. Aerial footage documents the massive scale of destruction in eastern Gaza, where entire neighborhoods have been erased, turning homes and memories into rubble. Every black dot in the picture was once a home, a dream, and a family.

The rubble of Gaza is now a tomb.
Since the Hamas-led attacks in Israel on October 7, tens of thousands of Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip, many of them women and children.
And more than 1,400 Gazans have been killed since the ceasefire last October.
The bodies of many of the victims have still not yet been recovered with the remains covered under thousands of tons of rubble.
Israel still doesn't allow journalists in, so working with a Gazan filmmaker Channel 4 News has followed efforts to retrieve the of bodies trapped there.

.@the_andrey_x and I were charged with assault, along with five other offenses. After being kept up all night and interrogated for seven hours, we finally saw a judge. He watched the footage and concluded it was clearly a one-sided attack and that we were the victims. His response was to ban us from the West Bank for two months, let the police keep my phone, and bring no charges against the settlers he had just watched attack us.
