$POL tokenomics look much better than they did in March. The data: → In March, the top 20 validators captured ~90% of priority fees → Today, they capture ~40% → Median validator payouts increased from ~11k POL to ~40k POL → Validators earnings below estimated infrastructure costs went from 47 → 0 That matters because priority fees are real network revenue generated by Polygon PoS transactions. The next step is getting more of that revenue to $POL stakers. PIP-85 is already approved and will distribute priority fees to delegators, but according to Sandeep, “the rollout is slow because of challenges of implementing it on Ethereum.” Native staking on Polygon PoS would make the implementation much cleaner. @LegendNodes proves the model can already work because he started sharing priority fees by his own will. It is not part of sPOL, yet after its 5th distribution it has already shared ~25,000 POL in priority fees with delegators, on top of normal staking rewards. You can delegate today and already earn more. The desired end state is native staking + sPOL: → Stake directly on Polygon PoS → Priority fees flow to POL stakers → Remain liquid through sPOL → Use sPOL across DeFi → Higher staking yield funded increasingly by real network fees rather than inflation Sandeep says the proposed overhaul could almost double staking yield.
