At the moment, we don't want to be promised roads, schools and other goodies without telling us where the money is going to come from. This is a country which needs resetting. Tell us who is going to service the debts we never incurred. Tell us who is going to take responsibility of stolen public funds. Tell us how we are going to manage our minerals for the benefit of Kenyans. Tell us how you are going to recover stolen parcels of land. Telling us about roads without telling us where the money is going to come from can only mean two things; 1. You are planning to overtax us even more. 2. You are lying about the development projects. Kenyans are tired of promises. Kenyans want tough decisions to be made.

Human rights activists and citizens in Kenya have launched a campaign, urging FC Bayern and Ajax to boycott the scheduled friendly between the two teams in Nairobi on January 5th. Critics argue that public funds and millions are being misallocated toward an expensive international exhibition match amid domestic economic pressures, the rising cost of living, healthcare challenges and human rights issues. They also claim that this match serves as a political leverage and campaign tool ahead of upcoming elections amid ongoing public discontent over governance, taxation, and human rights in the country 🇰🇪

Yes. It was called panem et circenses (bread and circuses) to mean cheap entertainment and superficial appeasement for the people anytime they come close to revolting. Falling for a trick invented in the second century AD would be crazy work.
In ancient Rome as in current Kenya, the poor need spectacular displays to forget their poverty. End.

“Nimeambia bunge ipitishe sheria…” casually said an autocrat, admitting to capturing the people’s sovereign representatives and undermining constitutional separation of powers. Send it to jail.

In this piece, I try to explain what livestreaming is about, including its difference with electronic transmission. "Livestreaming ... enables the public to watch, in real time, the results being transmitted from each polling station through a publicly accessible platform."

Kenya has a one in lifetime opportunity to do away with the old guard and usher in the new in 2027. When you look into the current political crop especially those angling for top seats, you discover that they are all KANU orphans who have either rebranded or reinvented themselves. All except one Edwin Sifuna. Ruto started his political career under the infamous YK-92, a youth lobby group that saw President Moi re-elected after repeal of Section 2A (1991) which had made Kenya into a de jure single party state. He remained in KANU and served as its Secretary General until 2006 Kalonzo vied under KANU in 1983 when he lost the Kitui North Parliamentary seat. He won it in 1985 and remained in KANU until 2002 when he decamped with the rest. He served as KANU’s national organizing secretary from 1988 to 2002. Rigathi Gachagua was posted to President Moi’s office as a D.O cadet in 1991. It is suspected that while he was in the university he served as an informant of the Moi regime against fellow university students who were opposed to the government. Of all the viable options we have in the 2027 electoral cycle, @edwinsifuna is the only candidate untainted by the stench of the dark KANU error. In 2002 when Kibaki became president, he gathered his fellow KANU orphans into his cabinet and they “taught” him and his cronies how to “eat”. But because they were not experienced thieves, they were busted in the anglo leasing and triton scandals even without the tight laws and considerably stronger institutions of public finance that our constitution gave us in 2022. My advice to the people of Kenya and especially those of us who are below 40 is that we must do away with these people tainted by the corrosively corrupt KANU error. We can and we MUST rally behind Edwin Sifuna, born in 1982 untouched by the darkness of KANU. That will be the beginning of our final liberation. And I do not praise the man lightly. You all saw him stand between guns and the people. The reason why that image has become the symbol of his qualification and competency to be president of the republic of Kenya is because it is unheard of. None of the KANU orphans would even contemplate standing between gun-wielding policemen and the people. In their mind, the police exist to protect them from the people. So I say this as both a patriotic citizen and a student of the rule of law #SisiNiSifuna.

I don’t think people fully understand what’s happening. We’re not being priced out of luxury. We’re being priced out of normal. A house, car, Groceries, Childcare, Insurance,These weren’t extravagant expectations 20 years ago.

William Ruto should pray very hard to whichever deity he worships that nothing happens to Sifuna or any other presidential candidate in the opposition after saying something as recklessly retarded as, “…raundi hii, watapata accident…”

Of course the president shouldn’t drink. He should only kill, loot, abduct, impoverish, champion tribal bigotry, and gaslight. But drinking, that’s where the damned line is!

Did you know that in 1993 (just a year shy of the earth-shuttering events of June 1994) the world bank and IMF suspended any lending to Rwanda? And now the same is happening in Kenya, less than a year to the most hotly contested presidential election since 2002. A coincidence?

And here is where we differ. That was not bullying. When there’s strangling, and “I’ll kill this bitch” uttered, we’re in the Penal Code terra firma. And there will be consequences.

Let’s be clear, that seized to be “bullying” the moment her hands touched the victim, and entered the criminal arena. It is a crime to physically abuse people. And the girl tried to move away. But she followed her once, twice, thrice. A lesson must be taught here.
Sitetei mtu but why exactly would a video of an occurrence that happened nowhere within school , had nothing to do with school matters , get someone expelled?💀Bullying is terrible , but it’s not a crime

I went to Riara Law. From where I sit, the video doesn’t simply depict “bullying”. It’s physical violence, verbal assault & emotional abuse. Dare I say that away from cameras, it may have been worse. It’s probably also not be the first time, it’s just the time they were caught.

Oh God. We’ve really gone from scarcely veiled suggestions of electoral malpractice (“tutamuibia kura”), to open declarations of the what the regime will do to anyone that dares to oppose it. If this is what they say in public, how ugly is what they’re planning in private?
