we lack a shared vision for what students should do in their free time. no amount of technology can change this: kids who don't read for pleasure won’t magically become readers at school.

Happy to announce I built a Greek/English reader site with all the surviving plays of Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, & Aristophanes.
Multiple translations for each play; click to parse & define for any Greek word; full Greek & English search.

i feel like short-form video content (reels, tiktok) is bad, but i also think most television is bad. it’s not obvious to me that vaunting television as generally better than tiktok is even true.
I know yall are over working from home but for those of us tasting it for the first time it’s incredible.
it was hard for me at first, but my work speaks for itself
Every day, Wikipedia biographies of living people are flagged for deletion because the subjects are not “notable” enough. How do these poor souls take the news? buff.ly/STdV8zc
when people ask me how im doing:
The Jets had:
- A RB rush for 100 yards.
- A WR go for 100 receiving yards.
- A QB throw three TDs.
- An offense gain 377 yards.
- Four Red Zone drives on offense, and another that got to the 23
- A defense that held their opponent to seven points in the second half
And they still lost to the 0-5 Dolphins.

best part about conferences in niche subject areas is that when you put your foot in your mouth, it’s in front of the people who matter most in your field.
this is correct.

Anyway, until we can meaningfully return to the teacher/scholar model and get serious about liberal gen ed reform, I think we will continue to crash out.
in educational organizations where teachers or professors have too many students to teach, students will seek teachers wherever they can find them
“Help me understand this” is the most common student use of AI. Higher Ed is completely out of touch with the reality of how students are using and abusing AI. The whole focus is on integrity and assessment but they should focus more on their instruction. news.gallup.com/poll/704090/…
