Michael Douglas plays what can fairly be described as a blinder here.
Glenn Close talks about her honorary Oscar and Michael Douglas does that...

Buying the maximum amount of dental cover on my benefits package at work was a good idea. Between us weโ€™ve recovered ยฃ4300. Tax on the premiums just under 500 sovs.

Just listened to the 2026 mix of rubber soul and at last we have a stereo mix getting close to the magnificence of the mono. Vocals in both sides unlike the original stereo mix. That said would still always choose mono for Beatles and 60s Bob.

Hive mind - Iโ€™m looking for a cheapish pair of wired earbuds. Any recommendations?

Nearly taken out by yet another cyclist jumping the red light at the crossing outside Cannon Street station. Donโ€™t shriek at me when you have to take evasive action when youโ€™re breaking the law. Red light means stop. Donโ€™t expect others to respect you when you donโ€™t respect them.

Someone two doors down from us had their pickup and tools nicked the other night. Had a look at the ring footage. And we now have an exact time and two scrotes who did it. Theyโ€™re hooded so no doubt they wonโ€™t be identified but hopefully the exact timing will help.

If you pay 40 or 45% tax there are Gilts which pay a very low coupon (say 1%) but trade at a very heavy discount to par. The 2032 one is trading at under 82p. This means that for every 82p you invest today the government will give 100p in January 2032. This means a yield

of around 5% if held to maturity. Risk free and guaranteed. The interest is 1% pa. Gilts are CGT free even outside an isa. This is not investment advice and you should consult your professional advisor.

And remember if youโ€™re holding outside a tax shelter youโ€™d need to gross the capital gain up by 20, 40 or 45% to work out what youโ€™d need from a taxable investment. You would pay income tax on the interest though.
