This study highlights costly antibiotic waste, during times of shortages, due to too broad empiric antibiotic selection at admission, which required adjustment (by ASP teams) with 24 hours of admit. Empiric antibiotic selection is important — Choose wisely!

More data re: safe use of cephalosporins (unshared side chain) in patients with penicillin allergy label, including in patients with hives/anaphylaxis (n=264). Guidelines have been updated to support this practice. Need EHR systems to support as well!
