I've heard some dumb shit come out of the UK, but this takes the bloody cake. Who the hell does this actually benefit other than the UK Government? How the hell are they going to enforce this? Are we seriously going to police what people watch on the internet now? You could even do this right with Porn Hub let alone YouTube. And how is watching YouTube the same as watching the BBC? One is a publicly funded broadcaster; the other is a platform owned by Google. They're not the same thing! I'm on YouTube to watch Markiplier cheat at FNAF, not to keep up with politics, world affairs, or what's happening in the real world. Just because your traditional TV model is struggling doesn't mean you should punish ordinary folk for it. Adapt to the times instead of making everyone else foot the bill! I can see why the Scots, Welsh, and Irish want to leave now, please take the Yorkies with you, I'm so done with this. I can see it now, their next trick will be making us pay a TV licence to use Steam, Twitch or Discord. I can see it coming
