The gas burnoff @ Lewes Senior Center has been delayed to approximately 2:00 p.m.. We will provide further updates if needed.
It will last approximately 1 hour. Flames from the burn off will be under pressure and could reach as high as 20' during the process. This is an established practice and will be closely monitored with all necessary safety measures in place. Safety agencies are aware of the event.
On site work at the Lewes Senior Center in Nassau compromised a gas pipe. The gas company is on scene mitigating the issue, all residents in the are safe. The company needs to totally empty the tank to repair it This will include a burn off starting at approximately noon today.
