americans will get detained for possessing alcohol as an adult then unironically claim to live in the "land of the free"
I went into the liquor store on the phone, bought a handle of vodka and threw it in the passenger seat. Just wasn’t thinking. Immediately got pulled over by a sheriff and the GASP I made when he pointed it out.

ANNOUNCEMENT Please stop doing the 67 at the shrine. Children have been doing it lately, causing trouble and trashed the outside of the Shrine. If you do the 67, and you're annoying the Maiden, you will be beat. Thank you for your attention.

These people think living in America is literally worse than living through the Holocaust. At some point we have to just accept that they want to feel alienated and oppressed no matter what.
Replying to @DoinkAltium
This show is so unapologetic and blunt. Saying the thing outloud, during what is possibly the worst time to be alive as a transgender person, is so so very important.

The Mexican standoff in so many dorky fandoms and nerd communities right now with programmers obviously using AI but keeping it secret so they don’t piss off the huge contingents of non-technical fans who think AI is per se evil and pollutes all it touches
The DS Pokémon ROM hacking scene has become a feature race since AI took off. Everyone is rebuilding the same stuff on their own, rushing to be the first to post a clip of whatever concepts. Many also use AI in secret because of the community’s AI shaming. (1/2)

everyone looking at this clip is missing the context the plot of this show is that there's a guy who is named chrens jendaire, who the government outlawed having sex with. when she says "its because im fucking chrens jendaire" she's talking about sexual intercourse.
I REALLY love seeing shows with unorthodox and experimental artstyles, characters, and stories, but that immediately gets completely ruined by writing with the subtlety of an anvil to the head. They could’ve written a clever allegory or metaphor but instead its just this- 😭

I was absolutely floored to see that not only is this website real, half of it is dedicated to the author's book trilogy about patent claim drafting

That bit in a cartoon where a hungry character looks at another and sees them transform into a roast turkey except it's Hila Klein seeing Ethan turn into a Palestinian

There was a chap at Oxford who came up in the 80s to research the 4 year tenure of a Yorkshire bishop. He spent 40 years on it, draining an inheritance left on condition it was spent on his education. Daily Mass (sometimes several times a day), lobster every day at Brown's next to the Oratory (hence the gout), magnificent dinner parties for miscreants, oddballs and grad students, and generous to charity. His fingers were so fat that his signet rings appeared stuck to them. Having spent every last penny, he was evicted from his apartment and became a monk some 3 years ago. No wife, no kids, and I don't think the DPhil ever got finished. Top 5 most eccentric human beings I’ve met in my life. Bless him.
When I was at U Chicago we had a 53rd year PhD defense. They started a career in grad school and remained ABD until after retirement. All of our completion stats were skewed because they never officially left the program.
